Sequels of a successful media franchise can turn out to be risky endeavors as we have witnessed in the past. Many franchises have gone on to make sequels that only ruin their masterpiece of a movie or legacy. The Hollywood star, Tom Cruise is also not a big fan of making sequels with the Mission Impossible franchise being the biggest exception of the star’s career.
Tom Cruise as Agent Ethan Hunt | Source: Mission Impossible: Fallout Tom Cruise wasn’t initially interested in making a Top Gun sequel as well
Tom Cruise will definitely go down in history as one of the greatest action stars of all time. The American actor is one of the most established stars in the industry and has won multiple accolades including 3 Golden Globe awards throughout his career spanning over four decades.
Cruise is most well known for his portrayal of Agent Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible franchise.

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Identity Crisis", Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) discovers from an old friend named Lieutenant Commander Susanna Leijten (Maryann Plunkett) that they are the only two people still alive and accounted for from a mysterious away mission on the planet Tarchannen III, conducted years before. The other members of the team have all mysteriously fled to Tarchannen III -- sometimes stealing shuttlecrafts to do so -- and vanished without a trace. It won't be long before Leijten begins exhibiting strange, nervous symptoms of an unknown disease, causing her to become fearful and twitchy. She, too, it seems, is being irresistibly drawn back to Tarchannan III. Is Geordi next? Not to spoil anything, but yes he is.
It's eventually revealed that an undetectable spore on Tarchannen III infected the members of Geordi's old away mission, causing them to mutate. It seems the spores are...

On the morning of July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins sat atop another Saturn V at Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. The three-stage 363-foot rocket used its 7.5 million pounds of thrust to propel them into space and into history.
On July 20, 1969, at 10:56 p.m. Edt, Armstrong planted the first human foot on another world. With more than half a billion people watching on television, he climbed down the ladder and proclaimed: “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”
And now some 55 years later, NASA is preparing to send people back to the lunar surface. Scheduled for September 2025, the Artemis II flight test will be NASA’s first mission with crew under Artemis and will pave the way to land the first woman and next man on the Moon on Artemis III. Buck and Bucky, the heart and soul of the Masters Of The Air series, are still stuck at Stalag Luft III. After last week’s episode, it did seem like our favorite majors, along with the Colonel and other POWs, were going to attempt “the great escape,” although the news of British escapees getting executed understandably dampened their spirits. In the penultimate episode of Apple TV’s WWII epic, the Tuskegee men get a fair share of focus, which takes the narrative in an interesting direction. The invasion of Europe finally happens, while Crosby grapples with the possible truth of Sandra not being who she seems to be. Let us take a closer look.
Spoilers Ahead
What Are The Tuskegee Men Up To?
The 99th Pursuit Squadron, known as “The Tuskegee Men,” completes its 500th mission successfully by hitting the Germans from Italy. But the rousing success doesn’t make second lieutenant Alexander Jefferson,...

20 years ago, Saw made an indelible impact on the horror genre. Not only did it usher in the so-called “torture porn” subgenre that would become synonymous with the aughts, but it also launched the career of filmmaker James Wan, who has firmly cemented his place among the masters of horror with follow-ups like The Conjuring and Insidious.
In the two decades since, the lucrative franchise has spawned nine sequels — 2005’s Saw II, 2006’s Saw III, 2007’s Saw IV, 2008’s Saw V, 2009’s Saw VI, 2010’s Saw: The Final Chapter, 2017’s Jigsaw, 2021’s Spiral: From the Book of Saw, and 2023’s Saw X — with a worldwide box office total of over $1 billion.
Despite being often maligned by detractors for its mindless sadism, fans are just as much invested in the series’ soap opera-esque melodrama as the innovative death traps. Formulaic though the general plots may be, the non-linear storyline is deceptively...

Two-parter movies are not a new concept. They have always existed in Hollywood, but back then, they were extremely rare. Films like Back to the Future Part II and III and Kill Bill: Volume 1 and 2 weren’t commonplace; they were exceptions to the rule. But today, it seems like every other major blockbuster is a two-parter. Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning only gave us one-half of the reckoning. Fast X was promised to be “the beginning of the end”, but they took it quite literally and sliced it into two parts. Across the Spider-Verse also ended on a “to...

The fall of Anakin Skywalker. The collapse of the Galactic Republic. The rise of Emperor Palpatine and creation of Darth Vader. It’s been 25 years since the Star Wars prequels changed everything – back in 1999, The Phantom Menace exploded into cinemas in an unprecedented cultural event. In its wake followed Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith, unspooling George Lucas’ visionary, technically ambitious, and thematically-dense trilogy of tragedy. The reception at the time was unsteady; today, they’re hailed as a vital and beloved era of Star Wars history.

Sylvester Stallone paid tribute today to Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films and died Thursday at 76.
In an emotional Instagram video post (watch it below), the three-time Oscar nominee recalled his longtime friend in a sometimes-quivering voice: “”My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. … He was magic, and I was fortunate to be part of his life. … Rest in power and keep punching.”
Standing in front of an abstract painting from their Rocky days in the ring, Stallone says in the video: “Hello, everyone. Today is an incredibly sad day for me. … Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life which he says everything about it. I give him incredible credit …. because when he walked into that room, and I saw him for the first time, I saw greatness, but I didn’t realize how great.

Most of Paul McCartney‘s songs are about love. Paul writing a tune about abuse in the modeling industry is a bit of a surprise. The “Live and Let Die” singer connected the song’s lyrics to the way the music industry treated The Beatles.
Paul McCartney has the experience to write a song about male beauty
In 2020, Paul released McCartney III, the long-awaited sequel to McCartney and McCartney II. The record includes a folk tune called “Pretty Boys.” In the track, Paul compared a group of men to bicycles. Paul has a much more extensive history of singing about attractive women than attractive men. However, surely the cute Beatle would know a thing or two about male beauty! During a 2020 interview with The New York Times, Paul was asked about the origin of “Pretty Boys.”

Jonathan Majors is working to save his reputation and career in giving a Jan. 8 interview declaring his innocence ahead of sentencing, in a move that experts see as risky legally and professionally.
The Creed III and Marvel actor was convicted by a jury in December on reckless assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and harassment in the second degree, which is a violation. The charges stem from an incident inside a car on March 25 in which Majors’ ex-partner Grace Jabbari testified that she saw a text on his phone suggesting he was cheating on her and grabbed it from him. She said the actor then injured her, including prying her finger from the phone and striking her head as he tried to take the phone away from her and later threw her back into the car.

Rumor has it that Netflix was originally planning to release the sixth and final season of their hit series Cobra Kai, a continuation of the Karate Kid film franchise, this month. The cast and crew were heading into production back in May (Netflix even released some table read footage) – but then the writers strike hit, causing filming to shut down. Then came the actors strike, which made sure it stayed shut down a while longer. But both of those strikes are now over, and cast member Courtney Henggeler has revealed that Cobra Kai season 6 is finally going to start filming / resume production next month!
The folks at Screen Rant took the opportunity to ask Henggeler about Cobra Kai when they crossed paths with her at a red carpet event. When they asked for info on what fans can expect from the new season, Henggeler answered, “I wish I knew. I...

“Creed III” cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau knew Michael B. Jordan had the mind of a filmmaker from their first collaboration together, the 2018 HBO film “Fahrenheit 451.”
“Even back then he had a very strong interest in the camera and cinematography and filmmaking,” Morgenthau tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview.
But after working together as cinematographer and actor on “Creed 2,” the pair took their collaborative relationship to the next level with “Creed III.” The boxing drama was Jordan’s directorial debut, and he enlisted Morgenthau to expand not just on the visual language the director of photography helped establish in “Creed 2” but also the “Rocky” franchise as a whole.

27 years after the original title wowed audiences on the Super Nintendo, the 1996 classic game Super Mario RPG is finally getting a full remake on the Nintendo Switch. More than branching out the Super Mario franchise effectively into the RPG gameplay genre, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (as it was fully titled) is one of the best turn-based RPGs on one of the best consoles for RPGs ever released. Debuting three months before the launch of the Nintendo 64, Super Mario RPG does feel like the perfect (if sometimes bittersweet) swan song to the entire Snes RPG era.

The German folklore of Dr. Faust has inspired a number of classic tales, notably legendary playwright Christopher Marlowe’s tragedy “Doctor Faustus”. The literary piece was a modernized morality play in essence, which played an instrumental role in popularizing the thematic significance of the story—the binary of good and evil instincts and the complexities of human nature showcased through supernatural elements of occultism. Shigeru Mizuki’s iconic manga Akuma Kun revolves around the themes explored in Marlowe’s play and additionally incorporates a narrative that includes elements of the diverse world mythology as well. The anime adaptation of its first volume, which was released in the late 1980s, garnered a massive fan following among children, and a continuation of the series as a part of the 100th birth anniversary celebration of the mangaka has recently been released on Netflix.

There is a fair argument to be made that Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the last true movie stars left in Hollywood. Despite how prevalent they are in spooky media, you’d be surprised at how rare it used to be for traditionally recognizable witches to be the main antagonists in scary movies. Sure, we got the eerie crones of the pseudo-documentary Haxan and even a dancing coven in Suspiria, but for the longest time, witches were relegated to humorous stereotypes akin to the Sanderson Sisters rather than anything truly terrifying. It’s only recently that modern classics like The Witch and Gretel and Hansel have made potions and broomsticks scary again, revisiting the disturbing origins of these myths in ways that genre films of the 20th century simply couldn’t handle.
There are a few exceptions to this rule, however, and one of my favorites just so happens to be a bizarre trilogy that dared to ask what would happen if a potion-brewing maniac from the early days of America found himself transported to modern times.

“If you think about it, The Beatles toured a lot, then we stopped touring and made Sgt. Pepper,” he said. “So that idea of having all the time in the world to do what you like doing isn’t new to me.

Sad news today as it’s been reported that genre director Anthony Hickox recently died at the age of 64. The under-appreciated director is best known for helming Waxwork, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, Warlock: The Armageddon, and more.
Filmmaking was in Anthony Hickox’s blood from day one. He was born to Douglas Hickox, who directed Theatre of Blood and Zulu Dawn, and Anne V. Coates, the Oscar-winning editor of Lawrence of Arabia. After initially working as a club promoter in London, Hickox moved to Los Angeles to become a writer and director. His first feature film was Waxwork, quickly followed by Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat. He went on to helm Waxwork II: Lost in Time, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, Full Eclipse, Warlock: The Armageddon, and more.

Are the movies back? It’s an open question, one that is curiously thorny to unpack right now considering that much of Hollywood remains on pause. Yes, the WGA strike finally ended when studios at last agreed to fairly pay their writers and find common ground on their demands related to artificial intelligence. However, the SAG-AFTRA strike continues on in the background. Hence major studio tentpoles like Dune: Part Two leaving to find greener pastures.
Still, after what seemed like an anemic summer following the failures of old studio standby franchises via DC and Indiana Jones, and others that just massively underperformed Fast X, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One), folks were wondering if audiences were tired of the movies. Then the gift of Barbenheimer occurred. It turns out audiences were incredibly excited… to at least see Barbie and Oppenheimer. However, does this mean they’re excited to see much else?...

The slow burn is a somewhat lost and misunderstood art. I say somewhat lost because A24 sure tries their damnedest to give us that once or even a few times a year. Slow burn movies, when done right, are a thing of beauty. They take their time to get you where They want you to go but don’t have to skimp on things like gore, sex, violence, or shock. The Italians mastered it, particularly with their Giallo genre and some of the greatest slow burn horror comes from the early 70s to the mid 80s. Cello, the under-the-radar English and Arabic-language horror movie shot in Saudi Arabia by Saw filmmaker Darren Lynn Bousman received its world premiere this week at the Muvi Cinema in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Oscar winner Jeremy Irons (House of Gucci) and Saw star Tobin Bell lead the cast alongside Syrian actor Samer Ismail (The Day I Lost My Shadow) and Saudi actress Elham Ali (Ashman) in the story of an aspiring cellist who learns that the cost of his brand-new cello is a lot more insidious than he first thought.
The film was written by Turki Alalshikh, the current Chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment of Saudi Arabia. The film was produced by Rozam Media, Alamiya, and Envision Media Arts. Producers report the film has pre-sold over 15,000 tickets for the upcoming opening weekend in the Arab region. The pic will debut stateside on December 8.
The Saudi premiere was attended by Bousman and producer Lee Nelson (The Ice Road). Others in attendance included stars Elham Ali, Samer Ismail, Suad Abdullah, Ibrahim Samman, Muhanad Al-Hamdi, Fahad Alqahtani, Baraa Alem, and Ghassan Massoud as well as co-producer Raul Talwar and executive producer Niko Ruokosuo.
“Getting to experience the movie in Riyadh with a packed audience was surreal. I have been so lucky in my career to shoot all over the world, and Cello took me to Saudi Arabia, Prague & Ireland,” Bousman said following the debut screening.
“It was such a fantastical adventure getting to work and play in such different and unique areas. We had the great fortune to work with superstars of the Arab region. Then, add Jeremy Irons and Tobin Bell into the mix it & was a once in a lifetime experience.”
Nelson added: “The production was comprised of an international team of artists from all over the world. Our 250-person crew came from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Canada, Italy, Egypt, Africa, India, Ireland, Tunisia, Jordan, Dubai, and the UK. It was such a humbling experience to be at the center of so many talented people at the top of their trade. It was a truly global collaboration.”...

As someone who actually likes "The Nun" (insert "There are dozens of us!" gif here), I'm pleased to see the sequel to the Conjuring Universe spin-off doubling down on its predecessor's approach of, to paraphrase /Film's Jacob Hall, feeling like the greatest Hammer Horror tabletop role-playing game that's never been made. Directed by Conjuring Universe veteran Michael Chaves, "The Nun II" sees the titular demon Valak (Bonnie Aarons) getting back in the habit of terrorizing the world of the living. Taissa Farmiga is also back as Sister Irene, though Demián Bichir is noticeably absent as Father Burke, a character who we learn sadly died from cholera in between films early on in the "Nun" sequel.
Not bringing Burke back for "The Nun II" makes sense enough from a creative perspective. Between the character's relatable trauma from the events in his past and Bichir's compelling, understated performance, a grounded protagonist like...

“Neon Genesis Evangelion” is one of the most celebrated and adored anime series of all time. When the series arrived, after years of only being available on what can charitably be described as the gray market, on Netflix in 2019, Vulture described the show as “equivalent in acclaim, auteurship, and cultural footprint to America’s ‘Twin Peaks’ or ‘2001: A Space Odyssey.’” And they are right. The show, the brainchild of mastermind Hideaki Anno, is a colossal, complicated achievement – a joyful celebration of giant robot media and a barbed deconstruction of the same media.
It is also a somewhat daunting proposition from the outside, with the entire “Neon Genesis Evangelion” franchise spread across the initial 26 episodes of the original show, plus several movies and an entire film franchise that essentially remade the series in a much weirder, more visually sophisticated way that is very much its own thing.

Drake once experienced a meeting of the minds like no other.
That’s what the Toronto-born rapper, 36, told the crowd at his L.A. show on Monday when he revisited a once-in-a-lifetime experience he once shared in a tour bus with Lil Wayne and the late NBA superstar Kobe Bryant.
While speaking with the audience at his It’s All A Blur tour, Drake was handed one of Bryant’s jerseys on stage by a fan. The timing was especially significant, as it was just a few days before what would have been Bryant’s 45th birthday.

After several years in development, Starward Industries’ hard sci-fi thriller The Invincible will finally be coming home this November. Thanks to a new trailer, The Invincible will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Gog on November 6. In addition, those attending Gamescom this year will be able to play the demo of The Invincible.
Based on the motifs of the iconic novel of the same name by hard science-fiction author and Polish futurologist Stanisław Lem, The Invincible casts the player as Yasna, a sharp-tongued astrobiologist who is sent on a scientific mission to discover what lies on the dusty surface of the uncharted Regis III.
However, things turn dire when Yasna’s crew disappears, resulting in her having to search for them and bring them back “dead or alive”. Your task is clear: harness every atom-powered device at your disposal
and summon every molecule of your unwavering determination.

Earlier this week, we were devastated to hear that Paul Reubens, the actor and comedian best known for playing the character Pee-wee Herman, had passed away at the age of 70, following a six year private battle with cancer. Among the many people who took to social media to mourn the loss of Reubens was special makeup effects artist Mark Shostrom, whose long list of credits includes The Slumber Party Massacre, The Beastmaster, The Mutilator, From Beyond, Witchboard, Prince of Darkness, Poltergeist III, Phantasm II and III, the first three Nightmare on Elm Street movies, and Evil Dead II. And while paying tribute to Reubens, Shostrom revealed that an iconic effect from Evil Dead II drew inspiration from an iconic effect in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure!
Shostrom said, “Paul Reubens provided huge inspiration for my work on Evil Dead II. I had been watching Pee-wee’s Big Adventure on VHS on repeat while sculpting.

The second part of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion became extremely emotional as Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae revealed why their relationship got so toxic after filming season 4 ended.
Viewers watched as Gary King flirted with Kelliher, but he also revealed on camera that they had sex after season 3. MacRae, who seemed especially troubled by this information, was also disturbed by the ongoing affectionate display between King and Kelliher.
And while it appeared that MacRae and Kelliher’s relationship may have imploded due to King’s relentless flirting, there was far more to the story.

Ibai Llanos has rewritten the Twitch record books once again. The Spanish streamer drew more than 3.4 million concurrent viewers for La Velada Del Año III, the latest in a series of influencer boxing events.
The third edition of La Velada Del Año (which translates to “The Night of the Year”) took place at Madrid’s Civitas Metropolitano stadium, where 70,000 fans showed up to watch a series of fights and musical performances.
Ibai’s seven-hour stream of the event included appearances from top Hispanic creators and artists. YouTuber Fernanfloo won a close contest against gamer Luzu, Mexican streamer Samy “Rivers” Rivera participated in two matches, and Puerto Rican megastar Ozuna delivered a headlining musical performance. The main card proved to be a bit anticlimactic, as Chilean YouTube legend Germán Garmendia lasted less than two rounds against the big punches of his Argentinian opponent Coscu.
The event was not without its hiccups.

Jonathan Majors, 33, has filed a complaint against his ex-girlfriend who accused him of assault in March this year.
Grace Jabbari, the ex-girlfriend, caused the Creed III actor’s arrest in New York City following her report that he had assaulted, strangled and harassed her.
She later rescinded the accusations against him and reportedly assured the actor in a text exchange, that nothing would happen to him, allegedly admitting then that she initiated the fight.
Three months after the dispute, Majors has now filed a complaint against Jabbari. He claims that he was the victim and his ex-girlfriend was the violent one while accusing him of talking to other women.
“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is probably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows,” defense attorney Priya Chaudhry wrote in a statement. “We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that...

The Winery Dogs, the supergroup featuring drummer Mike Portnoy, singer-guitarist Richie Kotzen, and bassist Billy Sheehan, released their latest album III back in February. Now, the trio are premiering the video for the album track “Stars” exclusively via Heavy Consequence.
The six-minute cut lies at the heart of III, anchoring the tracklist with a lengthy slab of psyched-up hard rock. Kotzen’s vocals are in peak flight, with Sheehan laying down a tight groove over Portnoy’s uptempo drumming. The longer arrangement also allows the band to indulge in its affinity for improvisation.
The performance video (watch below) keeps the spotlight purely on the musicianship, giving viewers a front-row seat to The Winery Dogs’ combined skill. The homespun approach of shooting the video in Kotzen’s driveway — behind a serene mountain backdrop — provides a charming touch.

John Bonham’s drumming was essential to Led Zeppelin. He used his bag of tricks to give powerfully stellar performances, but Bonzo also displayed his talent for playing various styles of beats and showing restraint when necessary. Still, the band didn’t employ their drummer on some songs. These are the six Led Zeppelin songs without Bonham’s drums (in chronological order).

No matter, like its predecessor, it was a significant hit on home video and cable, and soon plans were in the works for a fourth...
