A very good episode

In most previous episodes, Golding (Michael Tucci) is shown in a very one-dimensional way--he's always pressuring folks to get Law Review written and is both obsessive-compulsive AND unpleasant. However, in this episode they explore the character more--and I really appreciated this.

When the show begins, Spring Fever seems to be in the air. No one (apart from Golding) seems willing to focus and love and laziness is in the air. Even Hart is in a more complacent mood and he encourages Golding to let his hair down and be human for once. Golding actually agrees to take a break from his work and goes to a bar with Hart where he meets a woman. The problem is that while Golding wants to be a more complete person, he also wants to be obsessively in control--an impossible task.

I appreciate how the show manages to address how high performers in top schools MUST sacrifice in order to be the best. All too often, Hart seems to be able to balance this too easily and the Golding sort of character is probably the norm in top law schools--and the loneliness of all this is discussed. Well worth seeing and better written than usual.
