Considering how many serious injuries the Jackass cast members have suffered over the years, one would think that even before Jackass Forever, they had reached the limit of their willingness to pull off dangerous stunts. Jackass Forever is the fourth movie in Jeff Tremaine’s reality comedy film series, which came after Jackass 3D (2010).
However, the filming process was interrupted by some of the ludicrous, and risky stunts that resulted in injuries to the main character of the franchise. Indeed, Johnny Knoxville earlier talked about the major bull stunt that caused him to suffer brain damage and has revealed whether or not he regrets being a part of such a risky act.

Bam Margera may be moving out of his jackass phase, posting videos this week that showed he still has chops on the skateboard. At 44 and with far too many years of substance abuse to his name, Margera may not move as quickly as he once did, but it is awesome to see he can still work the deck.
Bam Margera posted two videos on Instagram this week, continuing a steady run of clips that have given fans promising updates on his health, both physically and mentally. And his followers have been extremely supportive, saying the videos remind them of Margera’s better days. Check out Margera’s moves below:

Hi, I'm (not) Johnny Knoxville, and welcome to (an article about) "Jackass"!
Somehow, over 20 years after the boundary-pushing reality stunt comedy series that launched Knoxville's career debuted on that dusty relic known as MTV, "Jackass" is still going. And not just the franchise; Knoxville and much of his original crew have continued to actively throw themselves into harm's way to entertain the masses. In fact, "Jackass Forever" emerged as one of the saviors of the 2022 box office, keeping the art of the R-rated guffawfest alive in typical topsy-turvy "Jackass" fashion. It's not just creaky Gen-Xers and Millennials like myself; even today's youths agree, the dudes rock.
With Knoxville and his boys now in their 40s and 50s, though, it begs the question: Exactly how much longer can they keep poking death and severe physical injury in the eye, and walk away laughing? At this stage, the "Jackass" crew seems to...

It's hard to imagine that there's any stunt the "Jackass" guys won't try. This is a group of friends who have eaten the most disgusting things imaginable, tortured their bodies, committed psychological terrorism on one another, doused themselves in all numbers of bodily (both human and animal) fluids, and often end up hospitalized in the process, all in the name of committing to the bit. That isn't to say that there isn't some corporate red tape that gets in the way of their shenanigans. Ahead of the release of "Jackass Forever," it was revealed that a handful of stunts including getting hit by a car, taking a live bullet while wearing a bulletproof vest, and rolling down the stairs in a cardboard box set with pillows were all denied by Standards and Practices.
Given the scope and intensity of some of the stunts they have gotten away with, rolling down...

Pranks. Pain. Penises.
These three words arguably encompass just about any of the stunts pulled by the "Jackass" crew, and when it comes to Steve-o, often all three at once. For the last two decades, Steve-o (real name Stephen Gilchrist Glover) has been putting his life and body on the line not just for all of our entertainment, but as a wild form of therapy.
On its face, the "Jackass" franchise seems like nothing more than grown men acting like immature fools, but as /Film's own Valerie Ettenhofer rightfully pointed out after watching the franchise for the very first time, "These movies are precisely designed to push the limits of cinema, of good taste, and of the human body." Ettenhofer also declared Steve-o the most fascinating of the bunch to watch, writing:

Warning: This interview is not for the squeamish.
If you've ever watched a "Jackass" movie or episode, Steve-o explodes off the screen as a man who enjoys his life. Why, then, does he seem so hellbent on jeopardizing it?
With the possible exception of Johnny Knoxville, no member of the daredevil troupe has performed gnarlier stunts than Steve-o. Over the years, we've seen him shimmy across a tightrope over an alligator pool with a raw chicken dangling from his underwear, wear a Peruvian jellyfish as a sombrero, and sustain repeated genital trauma via all kinds of inventively stupid methods. On the serious side, he battled drug addiction for over a decade before getting completely sober in 2008.
You might think clear-headedness would instill a strong sense of self-preservation in Steve-o, but subjecting his body to all manner of punishment and indignity is what he lives for. Indeed, when the Jackass boys are on a break,...

It's a dog's life for R-rated comedies at the box office these days, and "Strays" is the latest unlucky puppy to learn that lesson. Directed by Josh Greenbaum and featuring the voices of Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx, the raunchy talking-animal adventure is heading for an estimated opening weekend of $8.5 million (via The Hollywood Reporter), which will leave it scrapping for fourth place against "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem," now in its third weekend.
"Strays" was already starting off on the back foot, since R-rated comedies have become one of the toughest genres to succeed with at the box office. Even with the star power of Jennifer Lawrence onboard, Sony's "No Hard Feelings" wrapped its theatrical run with just $86 million worldwide, which might have turned a profit were it not for the movie's $45 million production budget. Adele Lim's "Joy Ride" was made for a more conservative budget of around $20 million,...

Jason Acuña aka Wee Man has a few thoughts on “Wonka.”
The “Jackass Forever” star shared a TikTok video questioning Hugh Grant’s casting as an Oompa Loompa in the upcoming “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” prequel. Timothée Chalamet portrays the titular chocolatier Willy Wonka.
“Hugh Grant is now playing an Oompa Loompa? So I guess Hugh Grant, you’re now identifying as a little person?” Acuña said. “Huh, interesting.”
The stunt man went on to call out Disney’s upcoming “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” live-action remake with Rachel Zegler in the lead.
“You’re replacing jobs that people could have [us] as little people,” Acuna added. “It’s for dwarfs. Why are you hiring ‘Snow White and the seven average people?'”
He continued that Disney should “make it right” and “re-do” casting with members of the dwarfism community. “Make it better Disney,” Acuna said.

Johnny Knoxville may have been leading a hit franchise, but the actor was deemed “uninsurable” due to the intense stunts behind “Jackass.”
During a recent Vanity Fair lie detector test video, Knoxville was asked whether he is an insurance agent’s worst nightmare, to which he replied, “No, does that sound true?” Once the lie detector administer confirmed Knoxville had fibbed, he said, “Ok, you got me, I am.”
Knoxville continued, “At the end of the ‘Jackass’ TV show, I think, we lost all our insurance. So that wasn’t great. I think we were uninsurable at that point.”
The “Reboot” actor has led the two-decade-long “Jackass” franchise since its MTV series beginnings, starring in the most recent film installment, “Jackass Forever,” last year.
Knoxville told IndieWire in 2022 that a dangerous stunt had to be cut from the Paramount film due to insurance issues. “We did have something on this...

Jackass star Steve-o continues to outdo himself and this time he was in London performing a stunt that ended up getting him detained by local authorities. The television personality jumped off the Tower Bridge promoting a comedy special and detailed what happened.
“I was detained by police after doing this jump off the Tower Of London Bridge yesterday, but they were totally cool, and understood that I’m just super excited to be taping my Third (and craziest by far) comedy special on Friday, July 14 in London (where I was born!),” Steve-o shared on Instagram.
Steve-o called the day “epic” that allegedly saw him getting interrogated by police.

Steve-o is revealing why he thinks Jackass Forever “was kind of a bummer,” even though it was a box office hit.
During an interview with NME, published online Friday, the writer-entertainer opened up about the 2022 film, which saw Johnny Knoxville and his crew returning for another round of wild and dangerous stunts and comedy. But it was one of Knoxville’s scenes in the latest film that changed Steve-o’s perspective.
“It’s not fun to watch Knoxville get hit in the head anymore,” he said of the scene that left the stunt performer and actor with a brain injury following an encounter with a bull. “I wrote this text to the whole cast that day, thanking Knoxville for the sacrifices he’s made for this team, and also begging that he stops with the brain trauma. It was one of my more serious and sincere messages.”

“Who are we going to trick into making our bats–t movie?”
That’s the question Adele Lim said she faced as she and her partners puzzled over how to get their travel comedy “Joy Ride” made. The answer, the “Crazy Rich Asians” writer said at the movie’s SXSW premiere, where her film got a warm reception, turned out to be Lionsgate. “Joy Ride” — which follows a young Asian woman who travels to China with her friends on a business trip — became a highlight at Lionsgate’s CinemaCon presentation in April.

Michael B. Jordan‘s first foray into directing with “Creed III” has done quite well at the box office, and been generally enjoyed by critics and fans alike. Maybe it’s too early to consider its awards potential, but maybe not, because there seems to be more room for movies like “Creed III” now than when Jordan first played the title role in Ryan Coogler‘s “Creed” back in 2015.
What’s particularly interesting about that initial release is that it did get Sylvester Stallone nominated for his third Oscar, nearly 40 years after his first two Oscar noms for writing and starring in the original “Rocky” (1976). That iconic boxing drama led to a full-on franchise that was more about box office than awards, but “Creed” came at a time when people started taking Coogler more and more seriously following his acclaimed debut feature “Fruitvale Station.”

Jackass Forever (Jeff Tremaine)
Jackass has been in our lives for more than two decades. Since October 2000, when the original show premiered on MTV, Johnny Knoxville and his gaggle of goofballs have appealed to lowest-common-denominator comedic impulses. They’ve slammed their testicles into things and had them slammed into by other things. They’ve gleefully dove into danger and gotten legitimately hurt. They’ve aggravated and disturbed an entire generation of people who got Reagan and Clinton elected. But then, for another generation, they brought laughter and some earnest sense of camaraderie. Since the halcyon days of the show (which Knoxville quickly ended himself after the ire of a boomer nation called for censorship), Jackass has endured in cinematic form. The first...

With its list of new releases for March 2023, Amazon Prime Video might be rolling out its most impressive monthly lineup yet.
We know that sounds like something straight out of a press release but in this case, it’s actually true! Prime Video’s movie library updates throughout the month, with most of its new additions on March 1 — including the “Rocky” saga, multiple “Carrie” adaptations, “12 Angry Men,” and more.
For Prime users who love books and TV, March means the highly-anticipated premiere of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The eponymous Daisy (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne’s band (Sam Claflin) make a mean match, starting with a hit single and leading to what seems like endless fame and glory. But where there is success there is peril, and both the band’s rise and an electric connection with Daisy threaten Billy’s marriage and everyone’s personal lives. James Ponsoldt,...

The Jackass series debuted on MTV in 2000, quickly becoming one of the most popular television shows. It followed the antics of a group of friends as they engaged in outrageous stunts, pranks, and dangerous physical challenges. The show cast included Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Dave England, Preston Lacy, and Ryan Dunn.
Despite parental and political worries about the show’s potential impact on younger viewers, it quickly skyrocketed in popularity. After three seasons of wading through constant censorship notes from MTV, Knoxville and his pals decided to end their run; thus began, Jackass’ successful transition to the silver screen era.
The Jackass franchise spawned several movies that were released between 2002 and 2022, in the following order:
All the Jackass Movies in Order of Release Date Jackass The Movie (2002) Jackass Number Two (2006) Jackass 2.5 (2007) Jackass Presents Mat Hoffman’s Tribute to Evel Knievel (2008) Jackass 3D (2010) Jackass 3.5 (2011) Jackass Presents...

Steve-o pleaded with Bam Margera to “choose recovery” in the comments of an Instagram post, telling his longtime Jackass collaborator, “You’re dying, brother.”
Steve-o had invited Margera to accompany him on tour, calling Margera the “Britney Spears of Jackass” and frankly telling audiences that he hoped the shows would help Margera clean up his act, per TMZ. Margera finished a one-year substance abuse program in 2022, but afterwards had reportedly struggled to stay sober. According to Steve-0, those struggles continue.
In a since-deleted comment on February 1st, Steve-o wrote, “Bam, last night you had your five-year-old son with you on stage at my show, and you were blessed with the chance to spend another day or two with him — then as soon as you left my show, you stayed up all night getting loaded.”
Steve-o continued, “You say you want to have a relationship with your son, but your actions...

You’ve never seen Hollywood quite like the way it’s portrayed in “Babylon,” the new film from Oscar-winning “La La Land” and “First Man” filmmaker Damien Chazelle. This three-hour epic takes place in the late 1920s and opens in a debauchery-filled Hollywood in the heyday of silent films, as it then chronicles a trio of characters through the transition to talkies. Chazelle assembled an all-star cast for the film, including Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, and holds nothing back in this R-rated drama that has drawn more than a few comparisons to Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Boogie Nights.”
So if “Babylon” is the film you’re looking to watch over the holiday break, you may be wondering how and where to see it. All your questions answered below.

They drank piña coladas and lounged in the shade in chairs by the ocean. In the photos, the two can be seen embracing each other and rubbing noses. A source told the outlet the two were staying at the Palm Heights and have been on vacation together for a few days.
“Emily and Eric were looking pretty cozy on the beach, lounging by the waterfront. They were kissing and flirting. He was cracking jokes and making everybody laugh,” an eyewitness recalled though they described the interactions as more “playful” then “romantic”.
“It seemed like a fun friends-with-benefits situation,” they added.

It's unlikely that anyone involved with the Eddie Murphy action comedy "Beverly Hills Cop" anticipated that the film would birth an entire series, especially considering the story was originally supposed to be a dark drama starring Sylvester Stallone. However, something magical happened when Murphy stepped into the role of Axel Foley, a rebellious Detroit cop who follows leads all the way to Beverly Hills, California while trying to solve the murder of a childhood friend. The film was a massive success, launching Murphy's career as an international superstar, and sparking two lackluster sequels in 1987 and 1994. A fourth film was planned for release in the mid-to-late '90s, but it never came to be ... until now.
Over four decades since Axel Foley wise-cracked his way into our lives, Eddie Murphy is returning for "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley," which is anticipating a release later this year. The film is said to...

In December, Bam Margera was hospitalized with a serious case of pneumonia. Margera later tested positive for Covid-19 and was put on a ventilator.
“I basically was pronounced dead on Elvis’ birthday, December 8. I did not know that I had gnarly Covid,” Margera told his former Jackass costar Steve-o on his podcast.
He went on to say that he had four seizures with each one lasting 10 to 20 minutes.
On the fourth, Margera bit his tongue so hard that it nearly fell off, causing him to swallow “infected blood.” This resulted in him developing a specific type of pneumonia that occurs when food or liquid is breathed into the lungs instead of being swallowed.

He was subsequently taken to the hospital where he had a fifth seizure that prevented him from being able to breathe without a tube down his throat.

When reflecting on my year in cinema, I recognize the experience of where and when I viewed the following films as inexplicably tied to how I remember them. The theatrical experience is sacred—this is no secret. But it bears repeating in the face of certain entities whose ethos revolves around its destruction (or “disruption”). Certainly the greatest cinema transcends. I did not see my number one movie of the year on a big screen, but I look forward to a future date when I can. And after years of repeat home viewing, I was finally able to catch two of my all-time favorite films: The Thin Red Line and Groundhog Day, on the big screen in 2022—on 35mm no less. Home viewing has its place. But...

Tempting though it is to use a year-end roundup as an opportunity to speculate about the future of cinema, the truth is I actually have no idea if it’s in its death throes or not. As with any other year in recent memory, 2022 saw an abundance of both terrific filmmaking and unimaginative slop (with plenty of shades between). I pray that the former ultimately prevails over the latter, especially as said slop becomes even more ubiquitous and less watchable. Until then, I can’t do much besides advocate for what I like.
So here’s what I like. My ten favorite films of 2022, plus five honorable mentions. There are several others I enjoyed that didn’t quite make the cut and others still that I omitted due to ineligibility.

Here we go again, movie lovers!! One of the best 2022 recaps is a video countdown made by my colleague David Ehrlich (follow him @davidehrlich). He counts down his 25 best films of the year in a video edited together with footage and music from the films. It's one of the best ways to look back at the year, including footage from films beyond the 25 that made his list. Watch all of these!! They're worth it. David's Top 25 of 2022 is as unique and as intriguing as always, and you will likely agree with many of his favorite films from last year. His highlights: After Yang, Top Gun: Maverick, Rrr, Decision to Leave, Nope, Tar, Hit the Road, and Everything Everywhere All at Once (also my #1). Plus a few unexpected picks like We're All Going to the World's Fair, Jackass Forever, and Eo. Year after year, this is a must watch video for every cinephile.

2022 was a year where lists were discussed a lot. Sight and Sound released their once-in-a-decade poll, which I unexpectedly and luckily got to participate in. Is the act of list-making frivolous? Some might think so. Others may consider it is absolutely necessary to canon-forming and an indispensable part of the discovery of new cinema. One thing is certain however: the idea of lists to the general public seem to be seen as valuable only in their ability to justify or reinforce already-held opinions. In the internet age of exposure to unsolicited opinions about the arts, the culture has retracted back to needing opinions validated over and over again rather than open to being challenged in the aim of discovering something new. In my lists of recent, very purposefully,...

Bam Margera has revealed that just last December he was pronounced dead, only to live to tell the story. Margera recently sat down for an interview with fellow jackass Steve-o on his podcast “Wild Ride” to discuss his near-death/actual death experience.
“I was pronounced dead on Dec. 8,” Bam Margera said. “I did not know that I had gnarly Covid and my body was shutting down. I went into four seizures, each one lasting 10 to 20 minutes. On the fourth one I bit my tongue so hard it was nearly fallen off. It got so swollen and puffy it wouldn’t fit in my mouth. I was drinking the infected blood which gave me pneumonia as well.” Margera continued in detail, “I went to the hospital and had my fifth seizure and then couldn’t breathe without a tube down my throat. If 2021 was a year for the box office where nothing was normal and nobody knew anything, 2022 was a year where the box office started to once again look like it did before Covid-19 swept the world… but only on the surface.
Last year, each studio had a unique strategy on how to release movies in an unstable market where it was unclear whether any kind of movie could earn the box office riches their pre-pandemic predecessors once made. With “Spider-Man: No Way Home” breaking records in the middle of a global Covid surge, the goal for studios this year was to start figuring out what their strategies for releasing films would be at a time when streaming demand is more popular than ever and the viability of certain genres at the box office were still uncertain.

There was a time (it feels like an eternity ago) that so many in the movie business thought the climb out of the pandemic was going to be swift, looking to 2021 as the industry's big comeback year. Was it a comeback compared to 2020? Absolutely. But the attempt to regain something resembling normalcy in the theatrical marketplace has been far slower than anticipated, with 2024 or even 2025 pegged as the time when the dust will finally settle at this point. This to say, we've got a long road ahead.
Be that as it may, 2022 served as an encouraging year in many ways. Thanks to huge hits like "Top Gun: Maverick," "The Batman," "Minions: The Rise of Gru," "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "Jurassic World Dominion," and "Avatar: The Way of Water," the domestic box office is expected to finish at 7.4 billion, which would be about a 67 improvement over last year's 4.48 billion tally.

For a few fleeting weeks, it felt like movie theaters and the box office had turned a corner in its efforts to recover from the Covid pandemic that shut down most cinemas for over a year. Summer blockbusters were firing on all cylinders, families and horror buffs were on their way back, and it seemed like all that buzz would trickle down into the second half of 2022.
That second half dashed those hopes, turning 2022 into a roller coaster filled with hopeful highs and devastating slumps. While the biggest blockbusters continued to sell tickets in droves, question marks hang over the future of the box office at large and whether theaters will become the exclusive domain of big-budget franchises, leaving everything else to die on the vine.
“There is going to be a realigning of what we expect from the box office going forward,” said Comscore analyst Paul Dergarabedian. “With fewer...

Two years ago, there was serious concern the box office would ever rebound from the pandemic. In 2021, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and the James Bond sequel “No Time to Die” provided glimmers of hope that cinemas weren’t, indeed, relics of the past. But it took until 2022 for movie theaters to truly reestablish their value to Hollywood.
And for the first time in a long time, it wasn’t only superheroes that sustained the box office. In fact, the highest-grossing movie of the year was “Top Gun: Maverick,” the sequel to a movie that premiered nearly four decades ago, while Baz Luhrmann’s glitzy biopic “Elvis,” Universal’s starry romantic comedy “Ticket to Paradise” and A24’s indie “Everything Everywhere All at Once” proved there’s real opportunity for bold swings to resonate with audiences.
But with the earnest return of movies comes those pesky but inevitable flops. And this year,...

I’ve always adored Farrell and Gleeson, but they both outdo themselves. I cannot wait to see it again. The ten best films of 2022, in five double features:
10. “Benediction” and 9. “Bros”
How does one become a fully integrated member of society — an artist, a lover, a participant in the marketplace of ideas — when that society constantly rejects your very presence and participation? Two of this year’s best took very different looks at gay creatives looking for love and fulfillment, about a century apart; “Benediction,” Terence Davies’ haunting biopic of WWI poet Siegfried Sassoon (Jack Lowden) takes a much different path than the raucous rom-com starring and co-written by Billy Eichner, but both films followed men seeking their heart’s desire in a world that judges that desire. (The exceptional LGBTQ films “Fire Island” and “The Inspection” fit this category as well.)
8. “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” and 7. “Women Talking”
Laura Poitras’ searing documentary about artist Nan Goldin and Sarah Polley’s screen adaptation of the novel by...

With the pandemic still raging on and many, myself included, still feeling nervous about heading to the theaters, streaming services have been a lifeline for film fans. Netflix still reigns as the victor of the streaming wars and is continuing to establish itself as a certifiable force as a production company. The streamer led the Academy Award nominations last year with "The Power of the Dog," and there's a good chance they'll have plenty to celebrate in the coming weeks regarding this year's slate. 2022 was a time for restructuring and recouping massive losses, but Netflix still managed to put out some undeniably great original narrative features. As we head toward 2023, here are the 15 best original Netflix films of the year, including a few that haven't arrived on the app just yet.

The holidays are here, Oscar voters. What are you going to watch?
At this point in the calendar, the answer could almost be “everything” – but maybe not everywhere, and definitely not all at once. The Academy Screening Room, the members-only portal where studios can place their films to be viewed by voters, has 178 films as of the beginning of Christmas week, including every major Best Picture contender except for a pair of three-hour epics only recently unveiled, Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon” and James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
Those films, which beg to be seen on the largest and loudest screen possible, have yet to be added to the Academy Screening Room, a placement that costs 20,000 (albeit with a discount available to lower-budget productions). But while the Asr got off to a slow start this year, the other contenders are all now available for members to view, even...

Johnny Knoxville may be making a “Jackass” of himself again. The star of Hulu’s “Reboot” is reportedly filming a new prank-based project in Long Beach, according to an unlikely source — a lawsuit against the actor from a TaskRabbit handyman.
As reported by Variety, a handyman named Khalil Khan filed a suit against Knoxville in the Long Beach Superior Court for emotional distress after an alleged on-camera prank.
According to the lawsuit, Khan went to a home after signing up for a repair job on TaskRabbit in October, where the homeowner asked him to fix a dimmer switch and threatened to beat him up if he didn’t properly repair it, saying, “I know jiu-jitsu.” After the threat, Khan experienced a variety of bizarre occurrences: a lamp went out, and a girl showed up claiming Khan killed her pony and led him to a room where a horse was being put on life support,...

On the press tour for “Jackass Forever” earlier this year, Johnny Knoxville insisted the fourth film in the prank stunt franchise would be the last. In fact, he did so repeatedly, and it makes sense, considering Knoxville and most of the veteran “Jackass” cast are now in their fifties. But Variety reports that Knoxville’s pranking days may not be over just yet, and someone’s not happy about it.

During the press tour for “Jackass Forever,” Johnny Knoxville repeatedly denied rumors that the film would be the last installment of the “Jackass” franchise.
And that may be true, though Knoxville & Co. are filming again, likely on the new series “The Prank Patrol,” according to a lawsuit filed on Friday by a handyman who alleges he was the object of a recent prank. The ABC comedy series, set to premiere in 2023, features Knoxville along with Eric Andre and Gabourey Sidibe pranking unsuspecting folks and then deconstructing how the pranks are done.
