I do like Golden Films' animations generally, and The Legend of Su-Ling while not among my top 5 favourites- Thumbelina, The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, The Night Before Christmas and The Three Musketeers(The Christmas Elves and The Princess Castle are also very good)- is one of their better efforts. The character designs may lack fluidity and some of the dialogue could have done with more flow. However, I thought the colours and backgrounds were lovely and rich, and the music is also good, with a memorable title song and some nice oriental flavour. The story itself a classic and Golden Films adapts it charmingly and with an enchanting air. The characters of Su-Ling and the Prince are likable at least, and the voice acting is well done on the whole. All in all, definitely worth watching, perhaps not among Golden Films' best but hardly among their worst either. 8/10 Bethany Cox
