Nellie clearly still loves her wild haired estranged husband, trying to save face and help him out, she's always the one to suffer at the hands of him. Billy is always so worked up and stressed.
It was ahead of its time in so many ways, the fact that they had mobile phones, and that the viewers erupt with laughter when it rings.
Depression, apathy, ecstasy, fantasy..... Brilliant.
