Maree Delofski is a master storyteller and hopefully she'll make more documentaries. The Trouble with Merle delves into Merle Oberon's exoticly ambiguous ethnicity. Was Merle the illegitimate daughter of a Chinese hotel worker, Lottie Chintock, who lived in the north-east of Tasmania, an island state of Australia? According to this insightful documentary, it wasn't to be. Merle was in fact born in India.
