Fatteshikast is all about Shivaji entering into Lal Mahal. First half briefly gives us introduction of all characters in the film. Interval plot is good. The major plot lies in second half. It was a Well executed Plan to capture the enemies. Climax is too good. There is no scope for Action sequences. But the drama lifts story itself. The elevations , dialogues ,Songs, bgm , locations are too good. Watch it . Recommended

Notable attempt to portray a legendary surgical strike

Warning: Spoilers
Another notable attempt to revive the period films, especially, about Chattrapati Shivaji. The cast has done well, especially, Harish Dudhade as Bahirji is far better than Prasad Oak(cast in 'Farzand' and was intolerable). The music is pretty good except the closing song which is utterly unimpressive. I'm happy that they haven't shied away from making a considerably long movie. Many facts regarding the legendary raid on Lal Mahal are highlighted, as also the challenges faced by 'Swarajya' and it's soldiers.
The movie is riddled with flaws:
Despite of all the shortcomings, it's a commendable and welcome attempt to present the epics from a legend's life - Chattrapati Shivaji!!
The movie is riddled with flaws:
- Around 1h 30 minutes is dedicated to pre-1663 events, this should have been shortened and more details of the raid and it's planning should have shown
- The casting has gone wrong at several places, notably for characters of Shaistekhan, Fatteh Khan and Kartalab Khan.
- While some of the Maratha sardars were well-built, the obsession with 6-pack abs, Koyaji singlehandedly lifting a cannon, the dramatic duels during the raid etc. are dampeners
- While historical inaccuracies can be ignored (e.g: Ramzan fasting/Roja was ongoing during the raid and most of the sentries and other staff used to stuff themselves with food which caused lethargy), Chattrapati Shivaji charging unescorted was the most ridiculous and unbelievable sequence, so was he chasing Shaistekhan alone. 5-6 Maratha soldiers were killed in action and many were wounded inside Lal Mahal and they haven't shown this
- Last but not the least - the limping of Indian cinema on the path of technically solid movies. The Umberkhind ambush is one of the legendary battles/skirmishes in the world but is depicted so amateurish that they would have avoided it altogether!
Despite of all the shortcomings, it's a commendable and welcome attempt to present the epics from a legend's life - Chattrapati Shivaji!!
Loved this movie. Har har mahadev!!!

There is nothing con about the movie.
Everything perfect and iconic.
End credits gives you the goosebumps.
Editing could have been better.
I have request to editors, while editing such a epic movies please don't limit it with time bar.
It show How SHIVAJI MAHARAJ defeted saishtakhan.
Killing mughal was never intention of maharaj, his aim was one to raise SWARAJYA.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's strike on Shaista Khan within Lal Mahal is one of the most fascinating tales of the Legendary Maratha Empire. Digpal Lanjekar's film really makes for an extremely satisfying watch, atleast in the second half.
Chinmay Mandelkar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Ajay Purkar and Ankit Mohan have almost perfected their roles. Anup Soni, however, does not fit in the role of the villain, Shaista Khan. Sameer Dharmadhikari, perfectly fits in the role of the villain. The film isn't action driven but the action is sufficient, only in the second-half. The planning is the most interesting part of the entire film.

FATTESHIKAST (2019) :
Movie Review -
A Legendary tale dismantled by Feckless and Groggy direction. When i saw Farzand (2018) i was like, Ohh no man, this film could have been Bahubali of Marathi cinema but only if it had extraordinary vision by the Director. I was disappointed by the overall showcasing of the story because the story itself was a Great stuff and all you had to do was show some Filmmaking skills but Digpal Lanjekar failed. That was a strictly average film saved by storyline and heroic theme and i thought it's okay it's just a beginning for Digpal and he might improve in future by learning from his mistakes. When he announced Fatteshikast i was curious to see how much has he improved himself from the previous feeble stuff and basically the story was never any issue for me, it was just about how Digpal brings it on screen. Now after watching Fatteshikast i can say, he didn't improve from Farzand but instead he went down one more level. In the begining scene itself i could sense that this is going to be a terrible play in next 2 hours and i was proven right again and again. Well, Fatteshikast even has many mistakes in writing. I am not here to argue about historical accuracies and all, i am okay with the fictional changes but not if those fictional changes are destroying the main material. Recently, Om Raut's Tanhaji had some fictional changes but it all made sense to me, so, i was carried away by the narrative and more than that the visual spectacle whelmed by Director's Extraordinary Vision. See, Bahubali is not a Great story or something but it had Rajamouli's Extraordinary Vision to bring a typical story in Extraordinary Manners on screen and that's what Lanjekar lacks and that too with greater stories in hands than Bahubali. It's not the budget because even those scenes which doesn't come on big scale were weak and dull. It's about how matured director is and how he sees that scene in his mind and then puts it on screen. I must say, Digpaal Lanjekar has a lot to learn in filmmaking and he's actually not capable to give justice to Legendary tales of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I wouldn't have mind if he made any average or crap film on any other subjects like Romance, Family Drama and all that but if he's making films on stories which are our Prides then i think he's not the man to do it. A potential Blockbuster stuff like Fatteshikast is completely demolished by his childish vision. The scenes are irresponsibly shot and covered and i am not happy with the kind of disgusting show he made on Legends. Actors were good but i don't think i am saying this with full conviction. Screenplay is overlong and has no grip at all. Action sequences are kiddish, the men fly in air for no reasons, the blasts and explosions are outdated. You know that 10 Minutes Animated story on YouTube is more interesting and far better than this 143 Minutes Film. Not Hollywood biggies but the makers need to see those Animated videos on YouTube and learn something that how to tell Historical tales. Some guys from Marathi Industry are totally destroying our Historical Treasure and then there is Om Raut who is glorifying it better than all Bollywood Directors and i repeat it's not about the budget and big scale. There is lot in Tanhaji (2020) than visual grandeur, it is just that Om Raut had enough brain to understand what's important and enough skills to make a Great Film. Overall, Fatteshikast is not good Film at all, it's very bad but the respect I have for Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is beyond my cinematic knowledge and views. The kind of Legacy Maharaj carries deserves that kind of high level film making or else there is no need to make such films.

Biased Presentation of History

Mughals are Stupids+Weak and Marathas are Intelligent+Muscular, this is a point the whole movie focuses on.
Shivaji's Valor and Personality is shown like comedy in this movie.
If Tanhaji (2020) had released before it, the director would know then how to Portray History True and without going one sided.
