You gotta hand it to the all of those kids who gave this episode a "1" score. Not a single episode of the series deserves to rated lower than a "7" at least. These are kids who have no concept of numbers and what they mean, or they're kids who were just so upset about having a cliffhanger ending. Yeah, kids...I know it actually means that you have to wait! It's like dealing with kids who are upset that they didn't get everything that they wanted for Christmas, so they take it out on their parents.
Those who appreciate fantastic storytelling from Taylor Sheridan will find this episode to be just as mesmerizing and full of great characters and dialogue as all of the others. A good writer also knows how and when to throw the curveball. I'd wager that most people anticipated Season 3 to end in a similar fashion to the previous two seasons. I actually clapped my hands at the end because Sheridan did the best thing: left me wanting more.
The Joss Whedon's of the world (he was furious with George Lucas for the Empire Strikes Back ending), will be upset that a resolution wasn't reached...all tied up in a neat little bow, even if it is predictable, and often lazy storytelling.
As long as Taylor Sheridan is behind the writing of this show, I know I will never be disappointed. Like reading a great Dickens novel, you always know you're going to get top-quality writing.
True Yellowstone fans will not be disappointed with this episode. Can't wait until Season 4 (hopefully next year!).
