It's been a long time coming, but legendary horror music duo Midnight Syndicate, a.k.a. Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka, have officially announced the impending arrival of their first live performances this Halloween season. Midnight Syndicate Live! Legacy of Shadows is set to run every weekend from September 12th through November 1st as part of the 18th annual “HalloWeekends” event at the Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, the largest park of its kind in the world. The Syndicate team has partnered up with an army of technical and creative experts to bring the elaborate multimedia show to eerie life – including FX guru Robert Kurtzman, who previously worked on the Midnight Syndicate feature The Dead Matter. “HalloWeekends is the perfect place to launch the first Midnight Syndicate Live! experience," says Douglas. “The venue is awesome and will allow us to fully realize the exciting, one-of-a-kind show we envision.

Virgil Films and Entertainment released the indie horror title Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan in June of 2013, on DVD. This release was followed-up by another from Midnight Syndicate, which is comprised of Edward Douglas (The Dead Matter) and Gavin Goszka. Midnight Syndicate is, arguably, one of the best composers of horror music. They have recently launched a soundtrack for Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan and this fan has had a chance to take a listen. The soundtrack for the film, which released August 16th, 2013, is very atmospheric. Douglas blends lots of percussion and bass to create an unsettling tone, which is appropriate for a horror title of this calibre. The songs are diverse. The track "Minnesota 1894" blends a twangy stringed instrument with other, lighter melodies. The entire track list is well orchestrated and the songs compelled this listener to seek out the film, to see how...

Lazy Donkey Films has announced plans for an upcoming project titled The Hospital. Gathering some horror veterans and filming in locations rumored to be truly haunted, The Hospital is scheduled to begin production in August.
Hospitals are rarely settings for feel good moments. Sure, you've got the occasional exception to the rule like when, from her hospital bed, Adrian said, "Win, Rocky, win!" in Rocky II. But normally hospital scenes are more like what Shane discovered while trying to save Rick in the beginning of "The Walking Dead" or the unforgettable hospital moment from Let the Right One In. Now an entire film called The Hospital? That's gotta be trouble.
The film was written by Jim O'Rear and Daniel Emery Taylor. Taylor will also co-direct the film with Tommy Golden. To follow info on this film from day one, like the official The Hospital Facebook page.

The Film:
The Midnight Syndicate have been creating moody and spooky soundtracks for over a decade. The Ohio-based dark ambient group established some healthy base of fans and friends, leading into the group’s founder’s first feature film, here in The Dead Matter, which is defiantly aided by the group’s atmospheric sounds. In fact, the score is so good, it makes the film better for it, even though the film has FX by Robert Kurtzman and cameos by Tom Savini (FX master) and Andrew Divoff (Wishmaster), The Dead Matter is a little too ambitious for its own good, often shambling to and fro like the zombies featured.
It’s hard to knock it for being ambitious. I’m sure there’s a slew of horror fans stalk the shelves at Blockbuster or the search engine on Netflix for something, only to be vastly bored or disappointed by the flock of low budget crap.

Title: The Dead Matter Directed by: Edward Douglas Starring: Andrew Divoff, Jason Carter and Tom Savini Is this another example of a musician following in the footsteps of Rob Zombie? Composer and Midnight Syndicate music group creator Edward Douglas has taken the leap into the horror film genre by co-writing and directing the new movie ‘The Dead Matter.’ The film, which is now available on DVD and stars Tom Savini, Andrew Divoff and Jason Carter, combines the two biggest sub-genres of horror today, vampires and zombies in an interesting plot of good vs. evil. The movie follows two vampire lords, Sebed (played by Savini) and Vellich (portrayed by Divoff), as they fight each other [...]...
