This may not be the most thrilling episode with impeccable plot but immersion into the environment, nature and weather is almost perfect.

Outer Banks Season 1 Episode 1

Review : This is the first episode of this season. In reviewing this episode, I would like to say that it is very interesting and thrilling as the first episode. The scenery of the place where the whole story was shot and developed is presented in a very beautiful and very beautiful way. Moreover, the ending of the episode is very interesting and the desire to watch the next episode has increased many times.

Acting : All the actors and actresses have performed with enough dedication and with enough perfection.

Direction : The director has done a good enough job and he has done a good job with all the actors and actresses.

Story : For the sake of the writers, the story of the first episode is well written. The way the introductions of the main characters are given in the first episode is very nice and the way the story of this episode is ended with it is really admirable.

Dialogue : Dialogue has been used fairly well. Not a very high quality and not a very low quality.

Background Score : Background score I would say is very good and the kind of background used for different scenes is very good.

Soundtrack : No sound was used that way in this episode but occasionally short lines of different songs were heard.

Vfx : Fairly good enough.

Cinematography : The cinematography is very good and the camera work is done very beautifully. I have captured every scene in a very beautiful way.

Editing : The editor has done a good job of editing.

Lighting : The lighting work is also good enough.

Overall Episode : Judging by all, I will give the first episode of this season eight out of ten stars.

Talk about lazy writing
osterj-4724418 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First off, all the characters as well as the island are all described in the first 5 minutes rather than allowing the viewer to learn these things and feel apart of the world. This is a lazy way to get the information across without having to show it. Also... Why did no one seems prepared for the hurricane as if it came out of no where? Why couldn't John get himself emancipated rather than go into foster care at his age? The morning after the hurricane they all wake up as if nothing happened despite none of the windows being boarded up? How are large trees uprooted but the boat and trailer are sitting untouched? When first checking the wreck no anchor is used yet the boat doesn't move. All the hotel mattresses even on the second floor are ruined despite all the windows appearing intact. I could go on but these minor plot issues just kept adding up. The lazy writing coupled with poor attention to detail just made me not care about anything that was happening.

Annoying

Warning: Spoilers
So you and your friends find a dunk boat after a hurricane, instead of informing the coast guard, they go and find the motel room to the key they found in the boat.... Sure super logical who else wouldn't do the same. They find money and a gun in a safe, not only do they plaster the place with prints like it's 1902. Then they take the gun with them! Sure there will be no repercussions! What if that guy murdered a bunch of people with it and then the gun is in this little morons hands? So painful to watch.

Then little miss sunshine-turtle-safe. She runs around on boats, brings 2000 plastic cups to a keger... sure So far it feels like the worlds biggest morons are collected in this little town.

Horrible flat on the nose writing. A shame because the synopsis sounded promising.

Bad. Lazy writing. It seemed to me that the writers were forcing things to happen

I feel like the missed the mark they were going for
C-A-Dufour-7116 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I used to live near a coastal area, and the very unconvincing and inaccurate depiction of a hurricane (and its aftermath) was annoying. So when I was let than pleased with this episode early on, I thought my annoyance about the "hurricane" might be biasing me toward the show. (For one thing, why would that Child Services be scheduling a home visit for the day a hurricane was expected to make land fall. People in coastal areas are generally going to plan around an approaching hurricane. Hurricanes are intense storm systems, not single thunderstorms. They kept talking about surges, but homes just a few feet above water had no signs of water in them. They would say things like, "This looks so bad," but things looked fairly normal with just some trash thrown around. Okay, I am spending too long on the inaccurate "hurricane.")

As the move progressed, we are supposed to be feeling that the main "pogue" characters are likable rogues. But, they weren't doing enough character development with them. So, instead of seeming to be likable rogues, they just seemed like spoiled brats at times.

And other things were stupid, too. They have a hotel key to room 29 (I think it was) of some motel. It is a key, not a keycard. When they go to the hotel, the doors had key card systems. I have never known a hotel with a key card system to give guests mechanical keys. I guess this it to explain how they could open the room door during the post "hurricane" power outage, but hotels generally take actions as needed to deal with power outages. They don't give mechanical keys out to people when they have a key card system. It defeats the whole purpose of why hotels have key card systems. (So they can keep people out of a room after their stay without having to re-key the door.) I am mentioning that to show the example of plot convenience stupidity that seems to happen.

There is a character that seems to be a dirty cop. He walks into some maritime museum. When he walks into it, the man working there says, "We're closed." Well then why was the door unlocked? Every business I have ever heard of locks the door when they are closed. This was to show the dirty cop is just going to do what he wants, when he wants. But, it was just another example of lazy plot convenience to make the point.

I don't know why this is averaging so high right now. I was hoping to like this show, but I couldn't get all the way through the pilot.

Long awaited let down
MyPointOfView12319 August 2021
I waited so long for season 2 only to be let down. This season was full of mistakes, bad writing and stupid mistakes. The actors did a fantastic job but the writing was laughable and embarrassing at times. I hope season 3 is better if they are given the green light to make a season 3.
