Talk about lazy writing
18 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First off, all the characters as well as the island are all described in the first 5 minutes rather than allowing the viewer to learn these things and feel apart of the world. This is a lazy way to get the information across without having to show it. Also... Why did no one seems prepared for the hurricane as if it came out of no where? Why couldn't John get himself emancipated rather than go into foster care at his age? The morning after the hurricane they all wake up as if nothing happened despite none of the windows being boarded up? How are large trees uprooted but the boat and trailer are sitting untouched? When first checking the wreck no anchor is used yet the boat doesn't move. All the hotel mattresses even on the second floor are ruined despite all the windows appearing intact. I could go on but these minor plot issues just kept adding up. The lazy writing coupled with poor attention to detail just made me not care about anything that was happening.
