Professor Brutus? Only in these cartoons could a thug like be Brutus be a college "prof." Then again, seeing some of the those real-life college wackos on television in recent years, maybe......
Anyway, Brutus is bound-and-determined to break up Popeye and Olive Oyl. It irks him no end that those two are romantically linked when he has eyes for Olive, too. Of course, Popeye can never feel secure with a fickle woman like Olive, who can fall for Brutus at a moment's notice. In this episode, the moment she sees him, it's, "Ohhh, there's Brutus." Popeye and Brutus both hate each other, all over this skinny dumb-ass woman.
There are some funny lines as the "prof" pours on the sweetness to his gullible student Olive and Popeye has to hear it. Olive makes it worse when sticks her nose in the air and says "I could never marry an uneducated ignoramus." Why Popeye doesn't dump this dork has always amazed me. Instead, the sailor man decides to get educated....and you know who is going to teach him.....and try to physically annihilate and humiliate "Freshman Popeye" at the same time! By the way, there are only two people in the Prof's classes: Olive and Popeye. Where are the rest of the students?
How Popeye handles the situation is the remainder of the story. This is part of disc 3 in the Popeye's 75th Anniversary Celebration Collector's Edition DVD
