Not sure about the wider plot but it is a nice piece of animation

An old woman recalls her childhood when she had three friends. She had to keep them on the end of pieces of string because if they got away she would never find them again. She loved her dog, cat and bird and was never bothered by claims of adults that they were only in her imagination.

One of the film screened as part of the 2006 "Animator in Residence" collection of short films, this was a rather sweet short film looking at an old woman's memories of her "imaginary" friends. The story is simple and I wasn't entirely sure what I was suppose to take away from it, but then with short films it is hard to do much with a general idea unless you want a very specific set of actions in a traditional structure. This film doesn't do that but instead stays with the theme and it works out OK.

The use of music helps compliment the theme and helped me get into the right state of mind to watch it. The animation was good although not to my particular taste – I found the child a bit too spooky to be easily liked. Overall though an OK short that is roundly "nice". Probably not too much better than that and not likely to have an audience much wider than those that are interested in UK animation.
