Ghost Hunters-Second trip to New Orleans
Scarecrow-8819 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3 of Season two does feature a cool moment involving a door which opens and closes twice, no shadow from behind or reflection in a nearby mirror showing anyone who might've caused it to do that. This happens in the case of a New Orleans man who seems to be the victim of a jealous female spirit who causes him trouble when he brings over lady friends. The house is quite a spooky place out in the middle of nowhere and the boards creak with plenty of large windows to heighten the creep factor for the TAPS investigators. Kristyn Gartland and Michelle French have both become trusted new members of TAPS as they pursue anything paranormal without any theatrics. Despite the usual shadows which seems to move about in areas the camera doesn't catch, this house produces little. The luxurious Brennan's Restaurant, where Team TAPS have their meal, is also investigated, but Brian and Steve have problems conducting proper research because the owners didn't allow them to have the entire top floor to themselves. This investigation turns up absolutely nothing despite claims, such as one where the "Captain" tells of a friend dying after telling a scare tale to children in the room where a person killed his family then himself. I just hope that as the season continues we'll get more intriguing cases and locations, not that I don't enjoy the trips to New Orleans. So far, most of the investigations in regular people's houses have turned up very little. That door, however, was pretty cool. In this episode Jason and Grant are frustrated with Brian's cell phone use with his girl back home because he does this during periods when TAPS is preparing for investigations. He's a real punching bag who doesn't help his situation by further annoying his bosses. In a previous episode, for instance, he has lost such trust in Jason and Grant, that they were not convinced he had not done a thorough enough job analyzing the footage.

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, TAPS returns to Louisiana. Jason and Grant continue to struggle with Brian's discipline who now spends much of his investigative time on his cell phone talking to a new girl friend, but on to the paranormal.

In the first case, TAPS helps out members of the Southern Louisiana Ghosthunters who have been investigating a case involving a female ghost that has become attached to the homeowner (Deville), often getting physical with female guests. The paranormal claims include shadows and voices entering a downstairs bedroom occupied by the claimants sister; also reported in the upstairs hallway, an upstairs bedroom formerly occupied by the claimant where he claims that something would crawl into bed with him and try to snuggle, and a small room upstairs where the ghost of a young Cajun girl has been encountered.

With regards to evidence, this case is pretty decent. In the upstairs hallway, Brian and Steve get a tingling sensation and then start seeing what appears to be shadow figures moving around. However, the best evidence come from an IR camera. When doing the reveal, Jason asks if anything has happened since they had done their investigation. The claimant says that he heard the door to his sister's bedroom open and close and what sounded like footsteps walking stomping off. The IR captured video that supports this claim. In the video the door opens and closes twice. Although the hall light is on, you can see no shadows indicating that someone was outside the door. Also, their was no reflection in the bedroom mirror that at least could see partially into the hall when the door was open. Fairly interesting.

The second case involved the Brennan Restaurant who learned that TAPS was in town and asked if they would like to perform an investigation. The claims where centered around two room. The first was the Red Room in where a former owner hung himself after killing his family. The second a large dining area called the Chanteclair room where painters claimed that the saw the face of an old woman looking in a window at them.

The investigation went sour pretty quick as the restaurant was hosting a party in the downstairs area that quickly began bleeding into the upstairs portion. This noise would kill any possible audio evidence and since they didn't get any video either, the place may not be haunted. Disappointment for TAPS and viewers.
