A good episode, with some humor, John Karlen is back as the jittery, practical joker Carl Collins, after being absent for 47 episodes.
A reprise of the scene in #770, where Barnabas and Beth find Dirk is gone. Carl comes in, telling of his time in Atlantic City and meeting mentalist and singer Pansy Fay.e, who he wants to marry. He presents her and she is an over the top cockney who goes into a raucous song wearing a boa feather. How Jonathan Frid and Terry Crawford kept a straight face is remarkable.
Judith meets and is offended by Pansy. Carl has her go into her mentalist act. She knows of Dirk and says his murderer is in the room.
In the woods, Pansy is attacked by a bat, at the old house Barnabas sees wounds on her neck.
