Magda is frightened by a bat. Barnabas promises her some of the family jewels if she will protect his secret. He tells her he will be going to Collinwood later and introduce himself as a cousin from England.
Magda later goes to Collinwood and tells Quentin and Judith that a stranger will be arriving and not to trust him.
Quentin goes to Beth's room and accuses her of stealing. She denies it and says she will be meeting a "gentleman" later.
Barnabas arrives with his story of being from England. Judith is unnerved because of Magda's warning. Quentin pulls a sword on Barnabas and threatens to run him through if he does not give him some answers.
