truly intense TV
Quinoa19848 December 2009
Dexter is quickly becoming a must-see show. In the first season the writers and producers make sure the main plot is never out of focus, even if they deviate from time to time. By the last three or four episodes it's all just on the Ice Truck Killer - and his "other" personality, Rudy. This is the second to last episode of the first season, and it's mostly concerned with plot, but very strong and compelling ones as Dexter keeps looking for clues about the bloodbath and where he actually came from, and Debra is all excited (at first worried-excited then overjoyed) to hear that Rudy "needs to talk" with her about something and that they may go away for a weekend. But it's really all wrapped around the other plots - the stabbing of the officer, the lieutenant's firing, and the general tenor of unease as to the reemergence of the Ice Truck Killer with his "surprise" drop-off of body parts.

It's mostly based around 'when will it happen', as one knows Rudy will reveal himself finally to Debra, a real horrorshow waiting to happen. But it's the anticipation, and Dexter's own quest for the truth, that makes it so suspenseful and dramatic. It's actually one of the best episodes of the first season (not quite as edge-of-your-seat as the finale, but close, certainly in the last few minutes), and you get a sense of the impending tragedy that will befall at least some of the characters.

Just Fantastic!

Warning: Spoilers
The eleventh episode in this the first season of Dexter is just wonderful, very intense, and has keeps-you-on-end-of-your-seat pacing. Just as I have predicted, big things happened here and the episode ended with me biting on my nails eagerly awaiting the season finale. But as usual, there is no shortage of clever writing or witty, darkly-humored acting. The only thing I didn't like is how the episode had to end.

In this episode, "Truth Be Told," Sgt. Doakes begins to become a little suspicious of Dexter. Rudy and Debra are about to take their relationship to the next level. Rita takes her kids to visit Paul in jail. Lt. LaGuerta is demoted by Captain Matthews over the handling of Ice Truck Killer Case.

Overall, this is one hell-raising episode. The way this episode ended kind of makes me fearful of what happens next, especially the way Dexter was feeling by the end. But whatever happens, I'll be eagerly waiting. This is a great, powerful episode. I rate this episode 10/10.

Awesome Episode

Warning: Spoilers
The Ice Truck Killer kills the prostitute with a prosthetic hand that was interviewed by Angel and leaves her body parts in a Christmas tree in a mall. Angel is successfully operated and his ex-wife attends him in his recovery, but she explains that their marriage is history. Rudy has a wounded lip and tells Dexter that it was an accident with a piece of equipment. Dexter investigates the connection of the number 103 with him and discovers a bloodshed case in October, 3rd 1973, when his mother was slaughtered. Lt. Laguerta confronts Captain Matthews expecting his fall, but the political connections of his superior reverts the situation and she is dismissed. When Dexter visits Angel and discovers mark of teeth on his head, he asks a comparison of the DNAs of the Ice Truck Killer and Rudy. Meanwhile Rita decides to bring Astor and Cody to visit Paul in prison. Debra meets Rudy in a yacht and he proposes her while the desperate Dexter tries to contact his sister.

"Truth Be Told" is an awesome episode of this excellent series. In this show, Dexter and Debra finally discover the identity of the Ice Truck Killer, and Debra in a painful way. Angel realizes that his ex-wife will not come back for him. Lt. Laguerta finds how serious her situation in the Miami Police Department is. Rita finally realizes that she was protecting Paul and not her children omitting that their father is in prison. My vote is ten.

An epic set-up for an epic finale
chillwill9221 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
As amazing as the season 1 finale, "Born Free", is (we'll get to that), it owes a lot of the shocks it pulls out to "Truth Be Told", the episode in which Dexter finally puts all the pieces together. He discovers the identity of his real mother, Laura Moser, and eventually realizes that the Ice Truck Killer is, in fact, Debra's boyfriend Rudy (Christian Camargo). In addition, Paul has been sent back to prison after the intense confrontation and subsequent framing with Dexter in "Seeeing Red", and Rita decides to take Astor and Cody to see him. The Paul storyline seems like its drawing to a close, allowing for a fuller focus on the Ice Truck Killer in the season finale. In addition, James Doakes (Erik King) becomes more suspicious of Dexter than ever before, after realizing that Dexter lied about what he knew about the killer. The problem is, Dexter may be too late, as Rudy has Debra come the end of the episode. But the funny thing is, the revelations in this episode pale in comparison to those in "Born Free".

DEXTER- Micheal C Hall is awesome!
leemaychu23 December 2006
Micheal C Hall is an outstanding actor in his new role as DEXTER. I never miss this series, DEXTER when it comes on SHOWTIME. Hall was just super in 6 Feet Under, but in Dexter, Micheal C Hall has truly captured the personality of Dexter with humor, pathos and skillful acting. Everyone who are cast members on this series, Dexter, is perfect for their roles. When selecting the cast members, in such a talented way, one can only get a fantastic cast of actors, that I do not even think I am watching a series??? This series, Dexter n its entire team of entertainment people n actors are superb, I cannot say enough. The very FACT that I forget that I am watching an episode of Dexter, I am swooped into the world of Micheal C Hall's outstanding performance, I just love him! As Dexter, Micheal C Hall is so lovable, even tho' he has to take the trash out! have u seen Dexter when he shows his humor, and goofs? totally super n hilarious! What an actor Micheal C Hall is. I hope he will win the Golden Globe award!!!!!!!!!! I hope DEXTER will go on as long as 6 Feet Under! I am a huge fan of Micheal C Hall!

Rudy: Deck the halls with parts of bodies, fa la la la la, la la la la!
antisocial127 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Camilla: You've been busy. (hehe)

Dexter: Wake up Rita your not protecting them, your protecting Paul. Rita then takes the kids to see Paul in prison, in a touching scene.

Captain Matthews finds a replacement for Laguerta. Silly b*tch deserves it, screwing over her boss. Matthews is awesome.

Deb: When we catch this douche-bag, you and I can spend the whole weekend together in bed (all the dialogue at this point between the two is hilarious). Rudy tells Deb he is the Ice Truck Killer and she still doesn't believe it, until he physically restricts her. Deb: This isn't funny. ;]

The main story that has been building up all season gets intensified, Dex realizes Rudy is the Ice Truck Killer and that his sister is in extreme danger. Fantastic episode, the best of season 1.

1. Rudy leaves another murder 2. Dexter tries to dig through his past and figure out what happened 3. Lieutenant gets fired 4. Dexter realized Rudy is the ice truck killer

I'm glad that revealing the killers identity was slow and meticulous. It didn't seem random at all thankfully. Very solid episode.

Rudy and his Boat [9.5/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 1 Episode 11 ''Truth Be Told'' (S1. E11): Episode 10 was awesome and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Rudy found a new fresh victim. I wonder if at some point Deb will become one of his victims. Im glad Angel will live. So now Rudy wants to marry Deb or something? Yeah no way this is happening. Im sorry but I have to agree with Dex. Rita has to stop protecting Paul, the kids need to know the truth about how disgusting their father is. I feel bad for Angel, his wife doesn't wanna be with him anymore. Oh boy LaGuerta wont be LT no more? Hmm. Damn, Dex now knows about Rudy? Nice! Rudy is a much worse psycho than Dex. Deb knows about the menthols, Rudy is about to be exposed. Wow, what an amazing episode! My rating is 9.5/10.
