Gloriously gothic

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 411 is another strong one with a newly-resurrected Barnabas exploring his new-found situation. He does look a treat with his blood-smeared jaw and smeared eyeliner and collar all awry. Seeing Angelique suffering in turn makes for some satisfaction on the viewer's part, and the ominous drumbeat music adds to that suspense.

Can a witch control a vampire?

Warning: Spoilers
Locked in the Collins Mausoleum with barnabas' coffin, Angelique prepares to strike, but she struck first, and it's a great opening to another chilling episode in a series of episodes that has been nothing but. Every so often, a "Dark Shadows" villain needs to go into cold storage, and it appears that this time, it's Angelique's, although we've only had her for a short time. The undead Barnabas is not kinder and gentler, instantly aggressive with Angela, demanding to know why they are where they are. Yes, there's still a bit of the poetic Barnabas, obviously hating what he realizes he's going to become, it's obvious that a witch doesn't have the powers that a vampire has, even though she created him, and as he said, "All your powers of witchcraft can't save you now."

The confrontation with Angelique and Barnabas is followed by a reunions with Barnabas and Ben who tells him everything that Angelique had conspired to do. What to do about Ben?, Barnabas wonders. Ben offers his complete loyalty, and they start by planning to get rid of a corpse. Joshua appears out of nowhere, obviously thinking that Ben is going to rob Barnabas's grave, especially since nobody was supposed to know that Barnabas is dead. That ridiculous looking phony bat appears, the one major weakness through the entire story, and with how Joshua treats been, it's too bad that they couldn't get two stones with one bat.
