Dexter: Circle of Friends
g-bodyl29 December 2013
The seventh episode of Dexter is another good episode and is on par with the previous episode of tension and wanting more to happen. I liked this episode because many things happen here such as a return of an old character and such. All I can say is that I really liked this episode and the ongoing developments of the Ice Truck Killer.

This episode, "Circle of Friends," has a suspect that is believed to be the Ice Truck Killer being apprehended but Dexter isn't so optimistic if he is actually the killer. Meanwhile, Rita has to deal with her menacing soon-to-be-ex husband who just was let out of prison on parole.

Overall, this is a very good, tense episode. I really liked it because there were many things to pay attention to and you will most likely not get bored. There are a few surprising developments here to keep in mind as well. I rate this episode 9/10.

Dexter: I have a dark side too.

Warning: Spoilers
Dex is in deep thought looking over the dead body, Doakes asks, did you get a hard on there Morgan? ;]

Deb wants to run Masuka's prints as the Ice Truck Killer. (hehe)

Dexter: When'd you first notice it, this darkness inside the guy you fell for? Rita: I always knew it was there. I guess I just didn't think I deserved better, 'til I met you. Dexter: I have a dark side too. (Rita laughs) Dexter: What? I do. Rita: Somehow I doubt that. You have a good heart, Dexter. You're not like Paul, you don't hurt people. Dexter: Innocent people. I don't hurt innocent people. (wonderful scene)

Neil Perry: the f*** are you? Dex grins.

Terrific episode.

A new suspect in The Ice Truck Killer case appears, and Dexter attempts to rectify a past mistake.

Warning: Spoilers
"Circle of Friends" keeps the momentum going after the awesome "Return to Sender", as Neil Perry (Sam Witwer) becomes the newest Ice Truck Killer suspect. Dexter is disappointed in this development, as Perry appears to be nothing more than a complete psychopath, and not the meticulous murderer that Dexter had thought was behind it. Also, Jeremy Downs (Mark L. Young), previously seen in "Popping Cherry" returns, and Dexter continues to attempt to steer him on the right path. Rita's abusive ex-husband Paul (Mark Pellegrino) appears for the first time in this episode, and he will become a rather large source of conflict for Rita and Dexter in the forthcoming episodes. Character development continues for Rita (Julie Benz) and Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), who finds a boyfriend in Tony Tucci's prosthetic manufacturer Rudy (Christian Camargo). Overall, Season 1 continues to roll.

Who the Ffff Are You? [9/10]

My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 1 Episode 7 ''Circle of Friends'' (S1. E7): Episode 6 was awesome and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Yeah the guy they almost arrested is not the ice truck killer, no way. I love Masuka's jokes, always so weird and awkward. So the ex husband is back? He used to hit Rita, I hope Dex will do something about it. This Paul guy is very annoying and he doesn't understand boundaries at all. Something is off about that doctor Deb is talking to. So Jeremy is basically Dexter with no guidance like Harry was for Dexter. And Deb has a new boyfriend. Love how the episode ends with Dexter realizing that the guy is not the killer. Overall an amazing episode, my rating is 9/10.

Disney Dad and Other Friends

Paul approaches to Astor and Cody posing of good father while Rita requests the divorce. Meanwhile Debra and Angel follow a lead and arrest a taxidermist that may be the Ice Truck Killer; the deranged guy confesses the crimes and the police department celebrates, while Dexter is disappointed with his former "friend". Meanwhile Dexter regrets to let Jeremy Downs escape; when he is ready to fix his error, the teenager is arrested by the police accused of murder. Dexter sees his circle of friends in jail.

"Circle of Friends" is an average episode of this series. The relationship of Paul, Rita and the children looks like a soap-opera; the exposition of Dexter to Jeremy Downs in the precinct is unreasonable and incoherent for a cold blood killer like Dexter. The chase of the Ice Truck Killer is the best part of this show. My vote is seven.

Ridiculously weak

Warning: Spoilers
Ridiculously weak episode that purposely avoids realism, probably to promote a tired, false socio-political narrative. Rita was in no way helpless or required to endure Paul's nonsense, unless she lied about their being a restraining order (which seems unlikely). Paul would have been arrested upon approaching her.

Strange episode
dannylee-7808218 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have many questions. This episode brought in a lot - Rita and Paul (which arguably is bit of a cringe conflict) and capture of the ice truck killer. The latter was a bit of a stretch and it felt very forced. However, the bit about Dexter craving connection and the ending scene were quite fantastic. I feel that this episode lacked sense of direction but got me hooked a little more.
