MMM what have they done
tharun_mohan4 March 2008
This movie had a good possibility to turn into another memorable movie with a fairy tail touch, but due to bad directing bad acting and bad screenplay the movie sucked. They had the budget but I wonder what the producer thinking? the best part was Braeden Kennedy playing Sarah's brother … The worst were Sarah's parents and the useless comedy scenes in between reminds me of Steven Spielberg's comedies. The Group of bad actors filled the screen with boredom… There were some moments in the movie which failed to click… I wish if they took some more time and a better director and the whole movie could have been a memorable one, The whole theme was good and could have attracted a large young audience but failed… and the use of CGI were also useless.

Amazing! Honestly....

This one's a gem, Sincerely one of those so bad it's good flicks! From what I can gather this was a Norwegian endeavor - the real elephant in the room here is the screen writer (Norwegian) although the cinematography guy (also Norwegian) was pretty bad as well, not horrible but defiantly very bad, but like I said the root of this train wreck starts with the script.

I'm not going to even mention the plot - this movie is not about the plot or story lines or characters or any of that, this movie is all about awesomeness! What kind of awesomeness you ask? I'll set the scene a little bit - Native Norwegian guy writes script for a North American audience = massive Troll 2 scale epic failure! But thats just the root of this bitch, she blossoms into a god-damn redwood by the time those beautiful Norwegian bastards snapped back the final cut to this magnificent and wonderful blunder of cinema.

The script alone, bad as it is, is not the whole story of what makes this a "so bad it's good" film... Director I'm looking at you! Apparently the extent of his experience includes a two month stint directing "Jimmy Kimmel live" and a few episodes of the now defunct "Too late with Adam Carolla" back in 2005. Not sure how he landed that gig, but its apparent he didn't last very long and was fired/not asked back soon after... I'm not saying all inexperienced Directors are terrible or even bad, but this guy defiantly fits the bill! Though we are talking about a film where the Assistant Director was also the "Food Stylist" on set, I sh** you not! Check the credits.

So the script was terrible, and in spite of the AD's apparent abilities to whip up some kick ass finger sandwich's for the crew... the directing was terrible as well. That leaves us with the Acting, JACKPOT! Although Daniel Day Lewis himself couldn't have salvaged much from this script, the acting was pure amateur hour, And I wouldn't have wanted it any other way! Quick review: - Horrible native Norwegian guy's script? Check! - Being "performed" by Terribleific "talent"? Check! - Filmed by a Jimmy Kimmel Live wash out director and his finger food slinging Assistant Director buddy? Check and Check! Result? Perfect Storm Trifecta epic win! Conclusion? Watch this movie under the influence of something for best results

I liked it.....

I liked this movie. Slow in it's form, but somehow it tied me to the coach till the bitter end - and I was not disappointed. Monocerus is a film that doesn't push emotional buttons so much but the director seems to put his cast through its predictable paces. Of course I see that the actors is not hotshots, but they do a pretty darn good job.

Sure, it might not have been the most daring project ever to emerge on celluloid, but there's nothing wrong with a very nice movie about good and bad, mystery, family secrets - and it all wrapped into a beautiful scenery,

To me this was a mix between English Agatha Christie and a modern family adventure kind of movie. And I like both genres.

Interesting - go get it!
