Scared the Crap out of Me !

Yes, when I saw this for the first time back in 1983, it scared the crap out of me. Being six years old at the time and watching this during Saturday morning cartoons, it made an everlasting effect on me. Apart of the ABC Weekend Special, the 1980's showcased such subject matters that would be considered too adult theme for today's child audience. The Red Room Riddle is a great example. The story-line is very creepy, even so to the theme of ghosts and haunting's. Back then as a kid, I did not pick up on half of what was going on. Part of the riddle starts when we are introduced to the creepy old woman, then the creepy kid dressed in out-dated clothes, and finally the creepy old man in the first ten minutes. There are so many quick clues that pop up during the movie such as the dog skull. This oddness continues as we witness the red floating orb. At this point a blind man can see that the house is haunted, but to a child audience, the reasoning behind the haunting is a mystery. Now as an adult, viewing this movie leaves me baffled. The question I want to know is, who started the fire? Did the Butler do it?

Better watch it while you can since this is a rare one. This is actually pretty creepy for a 80's kids special. I believe two versions are online. One has the Vincent Price bumpers on it. I really like it. Give it a watch.
