Underrated Shonen Series
camiacono4 December 2016
I know there are people who'll say this show is unoriginal and dosen't do anything new or ground breaking or exciting, but the problem with anime is that there's so much different anime and manga out there that it's hard for a any show to stick out unless it's so big name or some new trending show like Mob psycho 100 or Twin star twin star exorcists, witch both of those are great but there do exist anime that is good just get shoved of as unoriginal and meh because critics don't want to be bothered with having to review them because they don't do anything new. However it's not also something new that makes your show stand out it's the execution of it and Mar dose good execution. Ginta, Babbo and the rag-tag group of friends they team up with and fight along side with are interesting, enjoyable and have their share of funny moments, the animations is pretty good, The music isn't anything super duper but it's pleasant, the plot has charming and is very fitting for this kind of show and the fight scenes are cool. I really like the ARMs witch is the weapons the use to fight in this show, they require the users own energy to use their special magic attacks and are ranked by class like holy Arms, dimension ARMS, Darkness ARMS and so on, It's kind of like the NEN chart From Hunter X Hunter. I will say the tournament battle arc does drag on but they change locations on where they fight witch really helps for any tournament arc and I do have to complain about the use of CGI but it's not as bad as say Kirby right back at ya. Over all I enjoyed MÄR Heaven and if your interested in checking out underrated anime I say check it out! And check out the Sequel manga Mar Omega.

Nothing special, but cute, clever and funny

MÄR is a action-packed fantasy "isekai" anime that's great for middle school aged kids. It's very different from most "isekai" because it doesn't revolve around the protagonist gathering a harem of girls like many other "isekai." He just makes some great friends, which are all inspired by fairy tales hence the word "Märchen" in the title, and they go on cool adventures. The plot isn't anything extremely deep or amazingly written, but the show is entertaining, humorous, and really wholesome at times. The theme songs are amazing, the battles can be really interesting at times too. My only gripe is the animation becomes less than desirable later on, but the ending wrapped everything up pretty well at least. I'm glad I sat through all 102 episodes, or I would have missed out on a lot of laughs, fun battles, cool character designs, some emotional bits, and a bunch of other cool stuff.

If you have spare time and are in the mood for some goofy, *usually* kid-friendly action, MÄR is for you. I will warn, though, there are a few perverted jokes, but it's not explicit, there's no blood, and there's minimal cursing. No worse than any other TV-PG show.

Ending different than in the comic. Fast paced action packed anime. Too many recaps, cringey fillers and flashbacks.

A fast paced anime with great world building aspect but very short action scenes. Its one of those classic isekai based anime with multiple games being published.

Like every other isekai and wuxia - this can fall in action adventure category with a hint of mystery and comedy. Not heavily in romance rather focusing in friendship and heroism. Very retro sound scores - nothing fancy on that. Opening songs was cute although not very memorable. Some of the ending songs were slightly better than the intros but still not catchy/ not memorable. Despite being classic children ftiendly anime, few aspects from this were not aged well for todays audiences - young teenagers getting drunk on alcoholic beverages, sex jokes&poses, vulgar words and killing without mercy.

Interesting characters mostly named after western & european fairy tales based characters. Memorable mascots and just too many recaps. As for the skill sets, nothing special, mostly just summoning monsters. The fight scenes resembles classic gameboy color/snes rpg games (3d). Aside from power upgrades, nothing much in the characters developments.

The voice castings were just okay - very similar to dragon balls, fullmetal alchemist and other classic voice talents. Compared to other classic animes - the production quality is horrible but i really enjoyed the storyline (like playing a game). Just pacing was too unreasonably quick. Ideal for people loving treasure huntings and into competitive aspects.

The worst part was the last few episodes full of bad choices. The story was changed dramatically away from what it was in the comics, hence made it messier and awful. Recommended.

I could have thought this crap out myself...

Warning: Spoilers
If I could live with the shame. The only thing this show did right was make the main character likable, but when episode 2 comes around you stop caring about him. He is some normal daydreaming nerd like you or me and GUESS WHAT!? he gets transported though a portal to a magic world that he will have to save! 0o0o0o0o0o0o0oh! They also try to blend CGI with it, but it just looks terrible. That is the same mistake that Justice league Unlimited made. The character designs are extremely unoriginal. Its like the person who was creating it thought to himself: "The more spikes we add to his head, the better the character will be." The plot is trite and predictable.
