This has to be the most stylishly and colorfully filmed CSI of all time, with spectacular aerial and ground shots of Rio as "Lt. Horatio Caine" (David Caruso) and Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez) go track the killer of Marisol. The latter, the brand new bride of "H" and the sister of Eric, was killed by a gangster named Riaz and he winds up a free man in Rio.
Not only that but family matters make the situation worse as Horatio's brother "Ray" is killed and it looks like his son is mixed in with this criminal. Ray's dying wish to Horatio is to look after the boy so "H" has many reasons to nab this Riaz.
In a secondary story, "Calleigh" (Emily Proctor) is running CSI in Caine's absence and "Ryan" (Jonathan Togo) is not happy when she pairs him with rookie "Natalia" (Eva La Rue) especially after "Boa Vista" begins messing up her first assignment on this new CSI field agent position. Wasn't Natalia the mole at the end of last season? For that, she's promoted?! I must be missing something, but I don't think she's a good addition to the "team."
All fans of this CSI: Miami show have different characters and things we like about it. To me, the wild colors and great cinematography are a big appeal so this opening episode was a treat for my eyes with just one spectacular scene after another. I also like Caruso, which probably puts me in the minority as I don't know anyone else who does....but I think he's cool.
