Cthulhu Rising
hellraiser74 March 2018
This is my fifth favorite episode of the show. This episode really introduced my to one of my favorate authors H.P. Lovecraft whom I never knew about until I saw this episode.

It's really cool seeing the Ghostbusters going against Cthulhu whom is one of the famous god/monsters from Lovecraftian lore. It's true that the confrontation between them doesn't last too long but hey's it's a giant monster against people the size of action figures from Cthulhu's perspective there really isn't much to it.

When Cthulhu comes it's doesn't disappoint the design is true to the one from Lovecraftian lore from the tenticles, amphibian features, all messed up. Really like the choice in the red color, really adds to the menice as he's the color of blood. I remember seeing this episode when I was seven, I was really scared of this monster, as he's about the size of Godzilla or King Kong, I honestly was afraid this creature might one day come down and decide to walk to where I was living.

However what really drives this episode is in the investigating and suspense which is great as it is a build up that really gives you a sense of dread and doom which is the essential element in all Lovecraft's stories. By it's nature this episode is a love letter the H.P. Lovecraft, we see throughout the episode there are several references to the author and his works. There is also a bit of replay value to the episode as there are several more you might have missed.

In the eyes of one of the old ones, the Ghostbusters may not have a prayer.
