Sex & Nudity
-
- Sonic and Elise clearly share romantic feelings for one another, and it gets much more obvious as the game progresses.
- Rouge the Bat wears her trademark skin-tight latex suit which reveals her curves and a lot of cleavage
Violence & Gore
-
- While most of the violence is clearly fantasy-based, it's still very intense for what is otherwise a rated G-level title; lots of kicks, explosions, gunfire, and even onscreen deaths.
- 5/10 - Violence is frequent and sometimes results in characters dying onscreen. While there is nothing that would be considered graphic, it can be very intense and a few scenes, especially the last hour of the game, would not be out of place in a PG-13-rated film.
- Enemy robots explode in an action movie style
Profanity
-
- 0/10 - Nothing objectionable.
- Sonic's theme song includes the lyric "kicking ass fast".
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- 0/10 - Nothing objectionable.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- This game is infamous for its rushed development, resulting with loads of bugs and glitches that could easilly frustrate the player.
- Aside from the more violent scenes in this game, the most intense scenes result from the fury players would feel due to the maddeningly unfair difficulty and gameplay mechanics. Going into this game, players should expect to die countless times for reasons completely out of their control...that is, when they're not watching Sonic run around on his own.
- 8/10 - While not as grisly as Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog is still excessively grimdark for a Sonic game. However, because of the game's obvious unfinished alpha state, many of these scenes are more likely to be viewed as either laughable melodrama or rage-inducing idiocy, though they still may upset more sensitive players. The game's maddening difficulty and innumerable bugs are more likely a bigger concern than anything, really.
- The main villan of Silver's story, Iblis, is what can only be described as a giant lava monster who is quite a terrifing sight and could frighten younger children
- Like Iblis, the main villain of the game, Mephiles the Dark, is quite terrifying, in appearance, and could also get inside your head.
Spoilers
Sex & Nudity
- In one controversial scene, Elise (a human) kisses Sonic (an anthopmorphic hedgehog) on the lips to use her power and the Chaos Emerald's power to bring Sonic back to life.
Violence & Gore
- There is a scene where Sonic is shot in the chest and killed with a Chaos Spear from the game's main villan Mephiles
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- In one of the game's final cutscenes Mephiles kills Sonic by shooting him in the chest with a Chaos Spear
- This is recommended the scariest Sonic game yet. It has Monsters, black holes, intense music, dark atmosphere and dark endings. So that's why they rate this game 12+
