An artistic short documentary on tuna fishing
rasecz18 December 2006
Tuna fishing the old fashioned way: open top boats drag a net that eventually encircles the tuna. As the circle tightens and the net is pulled up, the tuna panic and the waters roil with fins and tails. The men use hooks to catch the flaying fish. The size of each -- fat and the length of a human being -- means that a single man cannot pull the heavy load onto the boat. Two men with hooks are needed and they arch back against the weight. Some fish die before being hooked and men dive into the water to hook the remainder "mano a aleta" so to speak.

Sepia tones and slightly blurred images give this short an artistic feel and a sense of the action.
