Has its share of lame jokes, but it isn't downright embarrassing, unlike...well, any other episode from this season. The Hamlet segment is surprisingly funny. The only thing that would have made it better is if the writers put in a few somewhat obscure jokes for people who know the play pretty well. It reads like the writers were just calling upon what they remembered from their stoner high school years and making obvious jokes about it. In previous seasons, you always got the sense that the writers really knew their stuff. The segment based on The Odyssey was also somewhat funny, except for the Disco Stu joke and the reused line from Krusty Gets Kancelled ("Time to take out the trash!").

There was very little to like about this episode

Warning: Spoilers
I normally find something good to say about each episode but this one stands out as different.
If the people tuning in are unfamiliar with The Simpsons series they will be very put off and confused by this episode. There is so much blood and death and killing by the main characters.
It's very weird and unsettling to see Lisa's character stab people in the stomach with a sword--even if she is supposed to be Joan of Ark.
This episode was pretty graphic and had scenes that could be very disturbing for young viewers--it would have been better reserved as a Halloween special. It even had a ghost and everyone dies at the end.
Gone are the days when The Simpsons show was sweet and a family friendly show. This episode relies on quick cheap shock value to keep audiences watching. Personally I thought it was a chore to make it through the whole thing.
