The Simpsons: Tales from the Public Domain (2002)
There was very little to like about this episode
I normally find something good to say about each episode but this one stands out as different.
If the people tuning in are unfamiliar with The Simpsons series they will be very put off and confused by this episode. There is so much blood and death and killing by the main characters.
It's very weird and unsettling to see Lisa's character stab people in the stomach with a sword--even if she is supposed to be Joan of Ark.
This episode was pretty graphic and had scenes that could be very disturbing for young viewers--it would have been better reserved as a Halloween special. It even had a ghost and everyone dies at the end.
Gone are the days when The Simpsons show was sweet and a family friendly show. This episode relies on quick cheap shock value to keep audiences watching. Personally I thought it was a chore to make it through the whole thing.
The Simpsons: The Wife Aquatic (2007)
Too many cringe-worthy parts
The only parts I liked about this episode was seeing Marge 30 years ago as a normal happy child having fun in the home videos. Other good moments were when Homer took initiative to make Marge happy--putting her vacation video on a DVD, planning a surprise vacation for her, having her favorite childhood merry-go-round repaired. It's great to see him as a very loving husband.
I didn't really like the rest of the episode. The silent movie in the beginning was very cringe-worthy. I don't like seeing characters commit suicide on this show.
The Meth joke wasn't funny, and maybe I'm sensitive but it was disturbing to see Homer strung up with ropes and a hook and later club fish with a bat with nails. I was also disappointed that Lisa and Marge didn't take action when they found out Homer was caught in a storm--we only see them react with shock and cry at a funeral after the storm was over.
