Documentary-like profile of 6 young women over a 5 year span.

The work that is compiled and shown as the film "Desire" is a medley of video shots done by the young women who are also the subjects of the film. Several of the segments are of the individual women talking to the camera. So this is a very subjective view of how their lives are progressing. I think it is important to point out that these are a group of very determined women since they followed through with this film project over more than 4 years even though they had impediments such as being single moms, unable to finish high school in the regular sense and have significant other problems. A fresh view of teenage girls in New Orleans though.

I thought this movie was good.

I thought this movie was good. I found a couple of the girls issues a reality for a lot of African Americans in communities of today. I thought the movie should have focused more on the urban teenager, because Tracy's and Peggy's issues are really not the issues that affect girls in this community. Not to make light of their situations, but I felt that they were out of place and that the children in African American communities wished they had their problems. Overall the movie was good. I also felt that Tiffany's issues were kind of forced to make the movie interesting, but it only distanced me from the concept. I felt that the movie being named Desire, should have been about the girls from Desire, Cassandra and Kimeca, and it also should have went a little deeper into their lives. Overall this movie was good.
