An aging man wants respect from his town.
kfo949422 February 2016
In a rural western town, a US Marshal is advising a community that they need to set up some kind of local law enforcement since he is a good ride away from the town. When asking for people to volunteer for the job only one person speaks-up. The person is Ben Cary which is an aged man that tells people these long stories about when he was young and his mighty adventures. Most of the town do not believe Ben's stores and more-or-less think of him as a town joke. Ben wants to prove the town wrong for laughing at him when he asked to be a deputy.

When an outlaw stumbles into town with a nasty snake bite, Ben takes him in for treatment. When the town finds out that the outlaw, Jerrod Toll, is at Ben's house they want someone to arrest him and take him to Cheyenne for trial. Ben will be the one that tells the town that he will bring the outlaw to justice. He is out to gain respect.

Even though the episode does not stand out as anything remarkable, there is some nice acting in the show. Thomas Mitchell, that plays the aging man, does a nice job of making us feel for the character. Also playing the outlaw, Gene Evans, is at his best in this show. With a nice story and nice cast, it did make for an enjoyable program. Good watch.
