Shades of Anastasia
bkoganbing21 July 2019
This Virginian story is taken from the famous saga of Anastasia the lost Romanov princess and heir.

We learn that Charles Bickford and John McIntire had another brother who died years earlier. Now some itinerant performer Jack Albertson and Brenda Scott in league with crooked lawyer Greg Mullavey are trying to pass her off on McIntire as a niece he never knew he had. There's a lot of money at stake including a big chunk of the Shiloh spread.

But is it possible she might be who she says she is.

The episode follow closely along with the famous classic film that Ingrid Bergman, Yul Brynner and Helen Hayes did.

Nice performances by the guest cast.

Grainger family history compromised
charliemelly29 December 2023
The Grainger family history and series continuity appear to be compromised by this episode. Clay Grainger reveals including using an old photo that he has two brothers neither of whom seemingly is John Grainger (Charles Bickford). One is his brother Charles and the other we are led to believe is Elizabeth's father (is this meant to be John Grainger?). If so it's odd because Elizabeth seems to have jumped forward a generation - Clay Grainger is not her real Uncle even though she has been calling him such as she was actually John Grainger's grand daughter - so Clay would be her grand Uncle. So Charles Bickford's contribution to the series seeems to be ignored in what was otherwise quite a good episode. His absence from Shiloh was never really explained after he passed away during series six.

Jeanette nolan, holly grainger was left out of this episode because she would have smelled out the rats early on and left it wanting ... the lawyer was in on the scam and clay was rife to be taken as the richest patsy in wyoming ... it takes the virginian and trampas to uncover the skunks ...
