She was never lovelier ...
tforbes-215 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
"Eileen" was one of Debbie Watson's last acting assignments. By the time she made this episode, probably toward the end of 1968, she was approaching 20 and had a son, aged 1. She was past her Sandra Dee era, when she had starred on "Tammy" on ABC in 1965-66.

No matter. Debbie Watson is the featured guest star in this superb entry in "The Virginian," and she remains as lovely as ever. More importantly, she is one of THE most underrated actresses of the 1960s. You can see this in her face and in her expressions.

Her retirement from performing in 1971 is understandable, given her family responsibilities and her lack of progress in her acting career. But given what I have seen of Ms. Watson, she deserved SO much better!

Interestingly, Doug McClure's character of Trampas is trying to grow a mustache, which is a precursor of what his character would look like in the ninth season, when the show became "The Virginian: Men From Shiloh."

As for the episode itself, it has some interesting twists! Between the plot and Debbie Watson's performance, this deserves 10+/10!

Debbie Watson rocks!
bmulkey-8159712 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
She is completely beautiful and highly appealing in her role as Eileen the visiting houseguest. The episode had three different types of stories. One a mutual friendship story between Eileen and Elizabeth. Two. A romance between Eileen and Peter. 3. A crime drama element in the kidnapping of Eileen-' this takes up one fourth of the ep. A neat scene between Eileen and Elizabeth after the latter caught Eileen sneaking out to see Peter and for a while Elizabeth wants nothing to do with Eileen till she finds out that was her sweetheart she was sneaking out with. This is a great late entry to the series thanks to Miss. WATSON!

Shiloh has a guest
bkoganbing13 November 2019
An old friend of John McIntire's has sent his errant daughter Debbie Watson out to Shiloh to possibly break up with her fiance Richard Van Vleet whom the dad isn't crazy about. McIntire keeps the reason a secret to one and all.

Van Vleet has gotten himself mixed up with some nasty criminal types whom he's into some big bucks. Van Vleet has come west and so has Don Barry whom he owes and henchman. Van Vleet says soon enough when he's married he'll have the Watson money. He even gets hired on as a hand at Shiloh to keep tabs on his 'beloved'.

Enough said other soon enough Van Vleet's character shows through. Barry who was a cowboy hero and when B westerns declined, Barry started varying roles and now was an out and out villain. Watson who was television's Tammy brings the innocence, but not the common sense of Tammy to her role.

This was a good dramatic story.
