Two new arrivals at Eaton Place!

Warning: Spoilers
Christmas, 1913

The Christmas of 1913 sees two new arrivals at Eaton Place; one upstairs, and one down.

Georgina Worsley, a step daughter of Lady Marjorie's brother Hugo, becomes Richard Bellamy's Ward, and Daisy becomes the new under-house parlour maid.

It's the second 'quiet' Christmas since the death of Lady Marjorie, and this bores the latest arrival Georgina, and so she has other plans for adventure! She persuades Daisy (the new under-house maid) to steal from the pantry much of the food that isn't getting eaten, and to take it to Daisy's family who live in poverty in the slums of London. There is both shock and anger from both upstairs and downstairs when it is discovered what the two have done and the police are contacted. However; when they return and it is discovered what they did and why, all is forgiven and lessons are to be learned.

This is the beginning of a close and long-lasting relationship between Georgina and Daisy that would continue throughout the years until the series ended in 1930.

It is interesting to note just how young both Georgina and Daisy appear when they first arrived at Eaton Place - then to compare this to how their characters developed throughout the years. Daisy grew in confidence, and by the 1920s had become a 'proper little madam' having married Edward; Georgina likewise, had become quite a socialite by the mid 20s having several skirmishes with various scandals.

NOTE: This is the very last episode to feature the great actress Cathleen Nesbitt who plays Lady Southwold (Lady Marjorie's mother) for the last time.
