This is a detective story, telling the cat and mouse game between a gumshoe and an assassin, also a diamond smuggler, a very wise man, but ruthless too, using dolls to make thing easier for him. Good editing and tension helps you to keep focused in this episode. I have already seen better stories in this series, but this one is at least pulled by excellent performances, especially the evil dude character in which Chester Morris is very far from his Boston Blackie character, that he played two decades earlier. Jim Gregory is also convincing as his nemesis. But the ending could have been a bit better.
