Gatorade gone bad
Rcwilkinson1235 December 2007
A mix of kryptonite with the electrolyte drink at football practice cause the players to become devoted to their cheerleader girlfriends in this episode.

A girl named Mandy is upset that her boyfriend puts football before her, so she and other cheerleaders spike the drink with kryptonite to change their priorities. Unfortunately, this happens to Chloe, so she becomes cuckoo over Clark. In order to stop the madness, Clark must pretend he is crazy over Mandy so Lois can find the potion that they are putting in the drink.

This episode does not contribute greatly to the overall season storyline, but has occasional funny moments.

Becoming a Leader
claudio_carvalho21 May 2006
The cheerleaders of the Crows prepare a beverage with kryptonite that makes the soccer players extremely devoted and in love for them. Chloe Sullivan drinks the love potion and harasses Clark Kent, while coach Jason Teague becomes absolutely jealous of Clark. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor tries to retrieve the friendship of Clark Kent.

"Devoted" is a great episode of Smallville and dedicated in the memory of Christopher Reeve. Chloe discloses her love for Clark, and Lex is fighting to be his friend again. Clark Kent is becoming a leader of his team. My vote is nine.

A few issues

Warning: Spoilers
For the most part it's a decent episode. But there are a few things I can't ignore. First, cloying Chloe. Bless your heart sweetie, Clark's just not into you. So tired of seeing pouty face every time he talks to the pretty girls. And the Jason/Lana relationship is way skeezy. Shouldn't he be in jail for his inappropriate relationship with a minor?

Aside from those things, Lois is a great addition. The chemistry and banter between Lois and Clark is better than anything we've ever seen between Clark and Lana. Looking forward to more.

Respect, but to WHOM?

I like this episode for its humor, especially in the heated arguments of Clark and Lois and the transformation of Chloe.

What I really hate about it, though, is the preservation of the whole idea of people being absolutely awful to new members of a team "until they prove their value"... Come on guys... This is what bullying and abuse is all based on. What happened with "give the new guy some space to breath" or "or cut him some slack"? Also, it has a coach actually ordering his team to bully a single member... OK, he may was under the influence, but, still... you don't want to show this on national television like is "the usual practice".. Have some respect for the abused, not the abusers...
