A really fun episode

Warning: Spoilers
Sideshow Bob returns again, which always makes for a fun episode.

It was around this time that 'The Simpsons' also started to make almost 'sequels' to previous episodes, and there's an example of that too, in this really on the ball episode that boasts some great moments.

Good One! (Spoilers)
comicman1176 April 2009
In The Great Louse Detective the first time that they permanently used computer animation rather than hand drawn is a good way to start. Sideshow Bob episode have never failed me yet. The main plot of the episode is that the Simpsons go to the Spa but while they are at the Spa someone tries to kill Homer by locking him in a incredibly hot steam room. Chief Wiggum decides to release Sideshow believing the best way to catch is a criminal is by using one. Homer learns that he is to become the king of Springfield Mardi Gras. At the parade Bob learns that Homer's engine is having a problem because of the repair of the mechanic. He draws a correlation between the wrench that was used to lock Homer in the steam room. Bob and Homer chase the killer when they learn it is Homer's Mechanic Junior. He admits that his name is Frank Grimes Jr. The police arrive and Frank Grimes is arrested. Later that night Homer puts Bart to bed but the minute he closes the door Bob is hanging to the back of the door. He is about to kill Bart when he finds he cannot because he has grown accustomed to his face. Bart watches as he leaves out of the window and Bob is electrocuted by two birds who play the remote on there nest. I just love how Bart wont stop shocking him in one part. I thought the whole Frank Grimes Jr. thing was pretty obvious for the most part. Overall good.

Something Fun and Different for Sideshow Bob,
lesleyharris302 July 2010
The Great Louse Detective is a great Simpsons episode with a well written storyline and loads of very funny scenes. It's a very enjoyable episode that does something different and interesting with Sideshow Bob, all of his appearances on the show up to this one had him trying to kill Bart, but here we get to see him investigate who could have possibly tried to kill Homer, the scenes between the two of them are brilliant, particularly the part where Homer must show Bob what he would do on a "normal day". The only thing I don't really like about this episode is that Bob eventually tries to kill Bart at the end, I liked how they were finally giving the character something else to do, and I think if they hadn't thrown that in at the end it could have opened up more story lines of Bob doing something else for the family. The twist at the end brought a smile to my face, bringing Simpsons fans back to a classic episode and a fan favourite, it was a very interesting and unexpected turn. It may not be the best or most memorable moment for Sideshow Bob, but the Great Louse Detective is a very enjoyable and different Simpsons episode.

After a murder attempt on Homer, the police sign Sideshow Bob up to investigate, much to Bart's dismay.

A few good moments, but..

Mostly tiresome and repetitive. Full of retreads and lame jokes repeated three times in direct succession in case you weren't paying attention, or are very slow.

I'm not going to repeat the plot description as so many people do. I've a feeling people do this just because IMDb requires so many lines of text in order to publish a review. Or maybe they just like typing. But I will say one thing :

Eps like this one help you appreciate the good years even more. Principally seasons 2-10. They don't spoil your love for the entire series. Just keep telling yourself this.
