It looks like some of the Merries have had a haircut.

Little John is seen trimming his beard but somehow he now sports a frizzy perm. Maybe he encountered Kevin of the Keegan travelling up north to Newcastle.

The episode opens with Much captured by the Sheriff's men.

The Sheriff of Nottingham is seen playing chess with a lad. It seems Much is going to hang and that will be the Sheriff's birthday present to the lad.

The lad is called Martin and he is the Sheriff's nephew and a chess prodigy.

Adam Bell played by square jawed Bryan Marshall, a stalwart of 1970s cop shows is a legendary outlaw. The type of guy who was Robin Hood before the two Robins.

Bell is back and he has kidnapped Martin and demands a ransom.

The Sheriff will pay as the lad is blood and he also owns land which the Sheriff controls as his guardian. However the Sheriff plans to get Robin Hood to take back Martin in exchange for Much's life.

When Robin and Adam Bell meet, it is clear that Bell is not the man he used to be. Older, tired and his gang consists of murderous thugs.

His bloodthirsty right hand man called Moth once fought in France with Will and he left Will to die. So Will now wants revenge and suddenly also wants to talk about his time as a soldier.

Written by Anthony Horowitz. It is nicely produced but not so well written. When Robin makes the final handover he seemed to be very trusting that the Sheriff will not double cross him.

Martin is played by Charlie Condou. He still acts as well as being gay rights activist.
