Apt title for a moving episode
halelisa-4609225 February 2024
Easily one of the best episodes in a fantastic program that never should have been kicked off the air, this particular one dealt with the tragedy of how little teachers and education began to matter in 80s American society. The kids' school closes as the teachers begin what seems to surely amount to a failing strike for better pay and benefits. Gus himself is forced to deal with his own conflicted opinion between his fiscally conservative side and his role as a grandparent who is deeply concerned about his grandchildren's futures.

Guest star Chloris Leachman shines as a teacher who once was passionate about her vocation, but now, after seeing how little the parents, schoolboard and students care about the strike, is deflated and has lost her morale. It's a crime that Leachman did not merit an Emmy award for best guest star for this role in this particular year. But, similarly to the strike, it's just another silent, fallen tree.
