***SPOILERS*** As the "Naked City" episode opens we see big time bookie Dasher, Bernard Fein, about to meet his maker with a spear gun stuck in his back about to go off.It was Dasher's robbing waitress Hilda Wallace, Diana Douglas, of her three years of tip money that she played the horses with in her hitting a $1,600.00 daily double that he stiffed her out off that made her fiancée Larry Hine, Lee Philips, mad enough. But in Dasher brutally working Hilda over to the point that she was hospitalized that really got Larry started. The fact that Hilda was too afraid to press charges against the bum had Larry take matters into his own hands. And now Dasher is about to be dashed by Larry for what he did to her.
We see Larry to be a mild and meekly person who just wants to marry Hilda and start a family with her. It's when Dasher put Hilda into the hospital with a broken nose jaw and eye socket he just had enough. Now he's to pay Dasher back and with that have him crawl on his hands and knees in the mud before he finally does him in. It's just when Larry was to pull the trigger and send Dasher off to the great unknown that he comes to his senses in knowing he wasn't worth, in Larry killing him, spending the rest of his life behind bars. The fact that Larry put the fear of God as well as his spear gun into Dasher was enough to even the score.
****SPOILERS**** With the cops coming on the scene lead by Let. Dan Muldoon, John McIntire, and seeing this pathetic sight of what once was a big shot in the neighborhood they decided to let Larry off on a kidnap and attempt murder charge.Yes it was wrong in what Larry did but in Hilda refusing to press charges against her attacker Dasher he was left with no other choice it was the only option he had left. Not by Larry killing Dasher, which he so greatly deserved, but scaring the living hell out of him he in fact achieved what he in fact set out to do.
