***SPOILERS***It's when Europa Industrial Diamonds main office was knocked off by two scuba goggled hoods in broad daylight the police headed by M Squad's Det. Let. Frank Ballinger, Lee Marvin,suspects it was an inside job with secretary Patty Conway, June Blair, who was nearest to the office locked door, by the water cooler, being the one who let the hoods in. It also turns out that Patty's boyfriend Sam Francis,Boyd Holister, an ex con with a long criminal record was one of the hoods who knocked the place off in the heist of 100 thousand dollars of uncut industrial diamonds.
Francis who claims that he got a traffic ticket just minutes after the diamond robbery alibi does checks out but Ballinger feels that it was all too coincidental for him and his fellow hood-Dervin- to have and then checks out Patty's brother Danny, Charles Aidman, who runs a fruit and vegetable stand not far from the robbery scene. It's Danny who was known to be acquainted with Francis in his 100% organic and non genetically modified fruit & vegetable business stand where he sold him produce at cut rate prices.
****SPOILERS*** With Det. Let. Ballinger putting the squeeze of Peggy where she breaks down and confesses to letting her boyfriend Sam and his friend Dervin,Pitt Herbert, in the place to rip it off but only to save her brother Danny's life from being killed by them if she didn't! This all turned out to be nothing but a BS story on Danny's part to get his sister Peggy to go along with them. In fact it was the friendly and hard working Danny, working 12 to 15 hours a day at his neighborhood fruit & vegetable stand, who was behind the robbery and used his naive kid sister to help Francis & Dervin pull it off! With Let. Det. Ballinger about to arrest Francis Danny instead of helping Francis turns against him knowing that he jig is up and he's, when caught, facing hard time behind bars. As for Danny he gets off easy with only 5 years behind bars to the 15 to 20 that both Francis & Dervin got in the state pen. With Danny's sister Peggy getting only probation since as she said did it for Danny who's life was in danger when in fact he was the mastermind behind the entire caper.
