****SPOILERS*** M Squad's let Det.Frank Ballinger, Lee Marvin, gets on the case of the murdered night club promoter Brad Morgan,John Archer, who was found stabbed to death in his office just after he got into a fight with one of his clients singer Rick Commings, James Douglas. Commings an up and coming singing super star was being blackmailed by Morgan who threatened to exposed his past that among other things had him serving a one year stretch in the can, prison, for s gas station stick-up.

It was the news of Commings being arrested for Morgan's murder that had his agent Max , Jay Novello, go into a state of shock and later drop dead of a massive heart-attack. Eevn though Max, who was also being blackmailed by him, had no use for Morgan but with his good friend and meal ticket Rick Commings now out of circulation he has no idea where his next meal, as well as pay-check, will come from. As we earlier saw it was Commings estranged wife Barbara, Barbara Stuart, who did Morgan in after he found her rummaging through his secret files not just about her husbands criminal past but that of her 4 year old daughter who died of crib death while she was away with a friend having a drink at a local bar.

****SPOILERS*** It didn't take Let.Det. Ballinger long to figure out what happened to Morgan but like everyone else, in the M Squad episode as well as those of us watching it on TV, he had no sympathy for that low life Morgan and didn't press the issue in having the book thrown on his killer Barbara. Why destroy both Barbara and Rick's lives over a heel like Morgan who in fact, he was killed by Barbara in self-defense, got exactly what he deserved. As it turned out Barbara got a suspended sentence in Morgan's death and both her and her husband Rick were now able to go on living with that blackmailing creep Brad Morgan now out of their lives for good.
