So Much Fun To See Lucy Lose It
kgraovac27 December 2023
When Harry's former sweetheart from Italy writes to inform him of an impending visit, Lucy and Kim help him try and turn back the clock with a diet and exercise routine.

Kaye Ballard appears as the old flame of Harry's but she isn't as funny here as she was on THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW. She doesn't show up until the final act, and it all seems anticlimactic.

The best part about this one is the middle scene where Vanda Barra knocks on Harry's door and he mistakes her for Kaye. Vanda's only there to sell cosmetics and calls him a "big fat old sex maniac". There is a great moment when Lucy appears to break character and loses it when Harry says, "Thank God she wasn't selling doorknobs". It doesn't look scripted at all and I wonder if Gale Gordon ad-libbed and they decided to leave it in. Either way - it's fantastic and seems refreshingly spontaneous.

There is a silly scene where Lucy and Kim sleep overnight in the office and encounter a robber played by Herbie Faye. 6/10.
