One of the signs of a strong "Get Smart" episode is when they have a good villain. Tom Poston, who "Get Smart" was originally developed as a vehicle for, is a great villain.
As Dr. Zharko, Poston is a mad scientist who gets Kaos to steal him electronic equipment for his experiments which include bringing dead Kaos agents back to life! His timing is excellent and he makes the most out of the mad scientist role.
Poston is well assisted by Sig Haig who plays his hunchbacked assistant. One of the great comedy moments of this episode is seeing Haig's back get straightened when Max punches him, and now has trouble getting through the tunnels. Another great moment is how Zarkov accidentally buts him back the way he was.
Perhaps inspired by Poston's strong performance, both Adams and Feldon do an excellent job in this episode and 99 is able to delay the bad guys by yelling "one more time!" after they finish their musical performance.
