Caught in a hot place
Tweekums10 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Still searching for Moya and out of food Rygel suggests landing on a nearby planet but the others point out it is lifeless. After a little bickering Noranti gives each of them something that she claims is a curative... the next thing we know they have landed and everybody except Sikozu, who didn't eat any, and Norati is being violently sick! When they finish vomiting they notice that Rygel is nowhere to be seen. It turns out he has found a cave that is full of valuables and is deciding what to steal. Shortly after the others find him he triggers the security system and is encased in amber and seals the cave. Before they can get him out they are interrupted by a group of thieves who had been looting the place. John and D'Argo are forced to retreat with Noranti when it becomes apparent that the thieves are wearing body armour that protects them from pulse weapons. While they try to figure out how to rescue Rygel, Chiana and Sikozu are busy trying to find a way to use the weapon on D'Argo's ship to blast a way into the cave; it won't be easy though as the ship is keyed to D'Argo's DNA.

It could be argued that this was just a filler episode as most of the action did nothing to advance the main plot; however that isn't to say it isn't entertaining. The thieves are fairly amusing; acting and looking like less intelligent characters from 'Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome'! They weren't the only source of amusement; John and D'Argo's discussion about what to do with Noranti was particularly funny as was Noranti's method of distracting a couple of the thieves. The scenery in the lava caves wasn't the most believable but anybody who has watched any amount of classic sci-fi will know that alien caves almost never look real! Once again we don't see Aeryn or Moya but it looks as if we will at least see Moya and Pilot very soon as the episode ends with them receiving a message from Pilot; while I have enjoyed the episodes that have been separated it will be good to see them back on Moya once more.
