So funny- based on a producer Tom Caltabiano bringing an 18 year old to a show function. From what Phil Rosenthal said, it was a cast function and he showed up with a teenager as his date. It seemed no one was ok with it.
The thing I loved about Everybody Loves Raymond, was that they based the writing on real life situations. Most of the episodes came from real life marriage and family drama. Robert touching his chin came from Ray's real life brother- who touched his chin when he was nervous.
Another episode on the fight over a suitcase came from another producer- who was having a standoff over who was going to put away their suitcase after a trip.
They never jumped the shark and just did an unbelievable non possible episode. Even the series final wasn't over the top. The episodes are just as funny nearly 20 years after it ended. One of the best sitcoms of all time.
