In life I know I have personally "overstayed" my welcome more than once in various ways. In the intro to season nine of The Drew Carey Show instead of an exaggerated funny situation priming the viewer for belly laughs, the writers pretty much say we know this show has "jumped the shark" and we've painted Drew into a corner. That corner is more desperate and depressing, leaving crumbs of the previous laughs. Though I've watched it I felt little joy. It shouldn't have gone out this way...yet the dye was cast as far back as season six. Did it have to sink and did I have to cling to the ship? Of course not, but what else was there quite like those hilarious highs that early on came almost continuously? Call me a sucker, a let down one.
