This is probably my favorite episode in the whole show, my favorite part being when earl thinks that a thief flushed the baby down the toilet but left his wallet and Earl says "we're clearly dealing with a very stupid person here" or something like that, and the baby realizing that Earl does care about him and i think that in this episode is when the baby calls him daddy for the first time, and both Fran and Earl learn that not one parent is wholly responsible for the baby. So the episode has a lesson, great comedic timing and a beautiful yet very stupid set of circumstances that reinforce a parent child bond!
