As you can guess, that story takes place in Africa just prior WW1, where there was German army occupation in the bush villages, in a certain Jean Jacques Annaud's LA VICTOIRE EN CHANTANT and John Huston's African QUEEN atmosphere. You also have Jimmy Coburn to whom the German officer asks for his collaboration. I would have perfectly seen Lee Marvin in this sympathetic drunk character, which is a tribute to Humphrey Bogart in the Huston's feature. This is a sort of comedy adventure yarn, which is a great and open tribute to African QUEEN, even a dumb could see that like the nose in the middle of the face. But it works, folks, it works. But I am glad that all the episodes of that series are not copycats of big Hollywood successes...
Good time waster.
