Using Africa as a setting had to have been hard. Since this was an American television show, they had to produce shows that would have been understandable and enjoyable for the average American in the 1960's. Speaking in African languages was just not possible, nor was viewing the actual African way of life. It seems a lot of customs were adapted. The show was interesting but very unbelievable.

The chief of the village is not happy with this, thinking they were trying to force American culture on these African children. He's right.
