The writing in here is Exihbit A of how great a comedy TV show this was....it's just hilarious. Nat Hiken, the creator of the show and chief writer, was a comic genius.
Toody and Muldoon go undercover on their day off. It's not Muldoon's idea; he wanted to stay home and watch the World Series game. However, Toody, insulted because he and his partner were the only ones in the precinct not getting a citation for doing something good, begged the Captain for a chance to work off-duty and perhaps, earn a citation for some form of bravery.
They wind up at Yankee Stadium with some very funny results. Toody is dressed as a Yankee merchandise hawker and gets into it with a little kid, then actually spots a pickpocket (only because the guy has his hand in Toody's pocket!) and it goes on from there. Wally Cox plays the soft-spoken pickpocket "Benny," who ......well, let's leave it at that. What Cox does is amazing - both good and bad - and what happens to Muldoon later is even more amazing. The ending, too, with Captain Block, is guaranteed to leave you laughing out loud.
Along the way, we see some of the cast members from the old Bilko show, also written by Nat Hiken.
